The year 2018 was an incredible year for celebrity couples. From high-profile engagements and wedding parties to endless ‘romantic’ outings and Instagrammable photo-ops, the tabloids were ablaze.
And then, just like that, the romance stopped. The couple saw less of each other as time went on and eventually called it quits. After ten years, the couple confirmed their split in a heartbreaking statement to the world:

Even though the year was young, it had already seen a lot of drama from the get-go. The year before, Robert had rekindled his romance with his ex-girlfriend, Kristen Stewart. And although they had long remained close friends, by January 2010, the tension between the two was palpable. The two even held a joint press conference, during which Stewart revealed that she and Robert had stayed in contact throughout the years as a couple and that she still held a special place in his heart:
“I think that, for the most part, people are very supportive of me and what I do…I consider myself as kind of an ambassador for my role, which is something new, it’s not like I’ve ever really done anything like that before. So I think that maybe some people are curious about me because of that.”

On January 28, 2014, Robert spent a quiet night at home with his then-fiancee, actress Anna Friel. The two had been dating for several months and were eager to make their relationship public. After months of speculation, on that day, they finally made the big announcement: Robert was engaged to be married to Anna.

A little more than a year later on March 3, 2015, Robert and Anna celebrated the birth of their daughter, Lily. After welcoming their baby girl home from the hospital, the happy couple took the time to attend a private family photo shoot. Captured in picturesque rural settings, the three looked like a real-life version of the elegant Wildwood flower children —with matching yellow, green, and white dresses.
December 24, 2015
A year to the day after their daughter’s birth, on December 24, 2015, Robert and Anna celebrated Christmas together with their family. (The actress had been in Los Angeles for the past year, filming the Amazon series, The Handmaid’s Tale.) While most of their friends and family were in Los Angeles, Zoe and Robert headed to London for the big day. The couple shared a special wedding video on their social media accounts, which showed off their glamorous and elaborate outfits for the big day.
April 5, 2017
A little over a year later on April 5, 2017, Robert and Anna were back in London for the London premiere of their film, The Rider. The movie, based on British author, Wayne Bentley’s The Confessions of Rikki Knight, tells the story of a young woman’s descent into addiction and the effect it has on her love life. While many had been expecting a big premiere day in London, the premiere was postponed due to ‘unforeseen circumstances.’ But the couple still made it to the red carpet and looked stunning together. Anna wore a beautiful white-and-gold gown, and Robert sported a black tuxedo, with matching velvet opera gloves.
June 14, 2018
On June 14, 2018, Robert and Anna decided to end their engagement. The breakup was, in fact, quite amicable, and the two remain close friends —especially now that they are a family of three. Since then, Robert has been linked to several A-list stars, but he has remained mostly silent on his private life. In fact, the only confirmation of a possible new romance came in January 2019, when he was spotted at a Lakers game, sitting close to Bella Hadid.
