The leading lady of the upcoming film, Dior, has a special message for all the Pattinson fans out there.
“Hi, everyone. It’s been a while since I’ve spoken on camera, so I think it’s about time I addressed you all. My name is Léa Drucker, and I’m the beautiful and talented actress who plays the part of Eugénie Dior in the Dior movie. I just wanted to say thank you for all your amazing support over the years. I’ve had such an amazing time, and I’m so grateful to all of you for making this film possible. I hope I’ve been able to give you some insight into the character, and I wish you all the best on your journeys to find love.”
And what a journey it has been! Back in 2013, we told you all about R+Pattz, the unlikely romance that sprang from a casting call for The Hobbit. Since then, the pair have been inseparable, travelling the world and soaking up luxury as a couple.
But while we’ve been eagerly following their glamorous escapades, it’s been a while since we’ve heard anything about their love life. So, in an effort to keep you in the know as to who is Robert Pattinson dating and more, we’ve decided to collate all of the notable inter-relationships and romantic entanglements that this year’s BFFs have had to deal with.
Ava DuVernay
The first major relationship of 2018 is between director Ava DuVernay and actor/writer/director Robert Pattinson. The two have been dating since October 2017 and are said to be extremely happy together. While it has been well-documented that Ava is one of the most influential female film-makers of our time, her work behind the scenes rarely gets the recognition it deserves, so it’s about time we gave her some love for all her hard work.
The powerhouse director began her career in theater, before transitioning to film with the 2009 release of The House of Gucci. Since then, her films have won numerous awards, including the coveted Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 2018 for Ava, which stars Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams. But while her work is acclaimed around the world, it’s still relatively unknown in Britain, which is a real shame, as Ava DuVernay is certainly a British export that we can be proud of. The director says that she is dedicated to representing the diversity that is British culture, and it’s clear from her work that she is a strong advocate for equal opportunities, as shown by her numerous social media posts about gender equality and the representation of women in filmmaking.
Katie Holmes
We couldn’t leave out Katie Holmes, as her and Robert Pattinson were one of the most high-profile celebrity couplings of 2017, particularly as it was reported that the couple were going to be parents. The former Mr. and Mrs. Smith star and the Twilight actor began dating in April 2016 and were married in December that year in a beautiful ceremony in Italy. While they have kept a low profile since the ceremony, Katie and Rob are thought to be very happy and are frequently photographed enjoying each other’s company. While we were initially disappointed that the fair isle of Scotland wasn’t represented at the wedding, as it was the national flower of Scotland, we can’t help but be excited for the couple as they embark on parenthood together.
Laurence Fishburne
The Black Panther actor has been dating model/actress Kate Hudson since 2012, but they haven’t always been photographed together. Fishburne, who is American, began dating Hudson, who is British, in 2014 and the couple were engaged in October that year. Since then, Kate and Laurence have kept their engagement a secret, while Hudson has been busy with her modeling career and Fishburne has been enjoying a successful acting career.
Fishburne was named best supporting actor in 2018 for his role in Black Panther and received a nomination for best actor. The actor is also known for his supporting roles in other franchises such as Shaft and Takers, and was named one of the greatest male actors of all time by FilmFacts.
Nicole Kidman
Another British import that we have to include is Nicole Kidman, who has been dating Australian photographer/director/producer Randall Carlson since 2014. The former Nanny McQuarry and Dog Soldiers star and Carlson met while working on a production in Australia, and the chemistry between them was so strong that the press was actually questioning why they weren’t making the long-term commitment to each other. While their romantic relationship has been kept under wraps and they rarely give interviews about each other, their Instagrams and other social media profiles show them to be quite the happy couple.
Kate Winslet
The English rose (or perhaps thorns should be the more appropriate term) Kate Winslet has been in a relationship with photographer and director Luke Micklewright since 2015 and were married in April 2018 in a private ceremony in France. The two have worked together frequently, with Micklewright directing several of Winslet’s movies and photographing her for fashion magazine and campaigns. While the two have kept their personal life private, they did reveal that they were both nervous about their first official public appearance as a married couple, as it was such a big step for both of them. Fortunately, the media were there to capture their big day, and we can thank them for preserving this once-in-a-lifetime moment for future generations.
Charlize Theron
The 45-year-old actress is one of the most famous and influential women in Hollywood, so it’s no surprise that she has built up such a long list of celebrity conquests. Theron famously dated movie mogul Harvey Weinstein for several years, while the pair were embroiled in one of the biggest scandals of recent times. The actress eventually broke it off with Weinstein, but they remained good friends, with Theron even taking the time to chaperone Weinstein’s daughter’s wedding to musician Sean “Diddy” Combs. After years of speculation, Theron admitted in an interview with Vogue that she is in a relationship with actor/director/writer/model Johnny Depp.
The couple have been photographed together numerous times, but it was only in April 2018 that they officially confirmed their relationship, despite decades of rumors surrounding Depp and the actress. In a joint statement, Depp and Theron said, “We have known each other for many years and while we have never been romantic partners, we have enjoyed a special friendship and working together. We hope our public recognition of our continued closeness will not be misinterpreted as an attempt to conceal the nature of our relationship, but rather be seen as a celebration of harmony.” Even their statement felt pretty nostalgic, as both Theron and Depp revealed that they couldn’t hide their relationship for very long, as they were inspired by the #metoo movement and realized that they wanted to be more open about what was happening in their lives. While Theron and Depp aren’t the only celebrity couple who used to be very private about their relationship, their desire to be more open about their union is something that many couples in the 21st century struggle with. How do you celebrate being in a committed, monogamous relationship when you don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings?
Laurence Fishburne
While we’re on the subject of celebrities, it wouldn’t hurt to talk about one of the most influential and outspoken black men in Hollywood, Laurence Fishburne. If you aren’t familiar, Fishburne was the star of such classic films as The Matrix, A More Perfect Union, and Driving Miss Daisy, among many others. Furthermore, Fishburne was the first ever African American actor to receive an honorary Oscar, which he graciously accepted. Even more impressively, the former Mr. and Mrs. Smith star has been married three times, with his current wife, Felicia, being married twice. This year has seen Fishburne in demand as he has narrated the Oscar-nominated documentary series The Rise and Fall of Neoliberal Capitalism as well as the Coen brothers’ The Big Sick, which won the Golden Globe for best comedy and was also nominated for an Academy Award.
