This has led many fans of the author to believe that the two may be related. In fact, when the original image went viral last year, people started referring to the “Fantastic Beasts” star as “Robert Pattinson.”
While this may be an intriguing theory, it’s simply not true. First off, they’re not even remotely similar. Second, the photographer behind the #CPattinson photo is Marcus Messent, and he’s got a pretty good track record. Third, JK Rowling is not related to Robert Pattinson in any way. In fact, she’s got a whole other family, which she’s not even mentioned in the Harry Potter books.

In fact, the photographer, who happens to be British, couldn’t even tell you where the photo was taken, since the individuals in question don’t even belong to his country.
What Is the Purpose of This Hoax?
It’s no secret that the people behind the #CPattinson hashtag are trying to capitalize on Robert’s absence. The fact that he’s been away from the public eye for so long makes this seem like the perfect opportunity to get some media attention. Since the beginning of this year, the hashtag has been used more than 500 times.
One of the reasons for this may be that since the beginning of February, there have been several major events following the “Twilight” storyline. Fans were hoping that Robert would make an appearance at one of these events, and since he’s not been seen in public for so long, people are taking the opportunity to have a little fun. Whether this is intentional or not, it’s certainly working, because more and more people are becoming aware of the hashtag and its meaning.
