It’s been a crazy year for pop culture and celebrity news, and few stars have been as affected by the sudden rise and fall of the Twitterverse as Robert Pattinson. The British actor turned Hollywood heartthrob fell in love with and married his screenwriter wife, Alice Wu, in January 2016. The union produced a son, Louis, in June of that year. In September, after just three months of marriage, the Hollywood couple called it quits, and on New Year’s Eve, Pattinson filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences.

Following the end of his marriage, the 33-year-old actor has largely kept a low profile. Rumors have swirled that he and longtime companion Kristen Stewart are back together (they’ve been spotted on multiple occasions this year), but more often than not, he’s opted to stay out of the limelight.

So where is he now? We took to Google Maps to figure out where the Hollywood heartthrob has been and what he’s been up to since the end of his marriage. Here’s what we found (and maybe it’s time to bring Robbie back from the wilderness).

Hotel Rooms

It’s been a big year for hotel rooms and Airbnb, so let’s dive right into the numbers.

According to Google Maps, the most searched-for hotel rooms in the world in 2016 were in Venice, Los Angeles, and Paris — three cities that figure prominently in the career of Hollywood’s newest leading man.

Hotel rooms were also in high demand in London, Istanbul, and Madrid, all of which are European cities that play host to a number of A-list celebs. What’s more, Paris and Istanbul were two of the most searched-for hotels in the world this year.

It seems like everyone who’s anyone has been to Venice recently. The most-searched-for hotel rooms in Venice in 2016 were the Grand Hotel des Bains, the Bauer Lido Plaza, and the Locanda Cipriani. The Des Bains is one of Europe’s most prestigious hotels and offers beautiful garden views.

One thing we noticed about the hotel rooms that searched highest is that they appear to be popping up on everyone’s radarsights around the world. These are destinations that figureheads in all industries have circled on their radar, and it’s interesting to see that even people in different countries are searching for the same hotel rooms.

Museums And Attractions

Perhaps the most interesting place to track Pattinson’s travels this year has been to museums and attractions. Museums have reopened and continue to attract visitors throughout the year, and it seems like everyone wants to see the Louvre and the Met.

In fact, Paris in general was the top-searched-for travel destination for many people this year, and it’s not hard to see why. With the French capital teetering on the brink of bankruptcy, many visitors may well have decided to spend their hard-earned cash on tourism rather than shopping or eating out.

Searches for museums and monuments were also high in London, where there’s been a wave of renovation projects over the past year, and Madrid, where the opening of the Pabellon Museo Picasso in July offered a glimpse of modern art and a renovation of the city’s Museo de Arte Contemporaneo. Another place that saw a spike in searches was the Grand Palace of Sultan Ahmed in Istanbul. The new Sultanahmet museum complex opened its doors to the public earlier this year and is one of the city’s most-anticipated tourism attractions.

It seems like everyone wants to visit Venice these days. The most-searched-for attractions in Venice in 2016 were the Museo Museum, the Ponte Girolimo, and the Rialto Bridge. The Museo Museum is one of the largest museums in the world and is located on the Lido Island. It was recently rated the 3rd most important museum in the world by Entrance Expo, a global event that brings together the world’s leading architects and designers to imagine the future of tourism. The Ponte Girolimo, or the Rolling Bridge, connects the Lido and Pell Islands and allows for serene, breathtaking views of Venice. The Rialto Bridge, which is located next to the Ponte Girolimo, is one of the most photographed bridges in the world.

Shopping And Eating Out

While we’re on the subject of attractions, it’s worth noting that shopping and eating out as a tourist draw quite a bit of search interest too. The most-searched-for eateries and shopping destinations in Italy this year were the Burberry shops, the Prada shops, and the Dress Museum. The Burberry shops offered a view of London in 19th century opulence, while the Prada shops were a symbol of the times in 20th-century Milan. The Dress Museum is a Belgium-based emporium that offers a view of the latest fashion and street style. Another place that saw a huge increase in searches was Saks Fifth Avenue, an American-owned luxury goods store that has several flagship stores around the world.

As for shopping, the most-searched-for luxury goods store in 2016 were Barneys New York, Louis Vuitton Saks Fifth Avenue, and Prada New York. What’s interesting is that Barneys and Louis Vuitton have operations not only in New York but also in London, so while we might expect people in London to search for these brands, those in Istanbul and Madrid might be searching for Barneys New York as well.

Shopping was also high on people’s radarsights in Bangkok, where a series of luxury mall openings offered shoppers world-class brands, including Burberry, Dior, and Louis Vuitton. There’s also been a resurgence of Shanghai shopping because of its luxury establishments and art galleries, such as the Met Museum of Modern Art which opened its doors to the public in April.

Mountain Climbs And Sky Dives

Not only have some of the world’s greatest art galleries opened their doors to the public in recent years (such as the Met Museum and the Museo Picasso in Madrid), but some of the most famous and luxurious mountain resorts have also offered unprecedented views of nature and landscape. These include St. Bart’s Lion restaurant in France, which features a glass roof that surrounds an alpine stadium, and Gröna Länken in Sweden, which overlooks the beautiful Åland Islands and lets you jump off a cliff into a breathtaking bay full of fish.
