You may have heard about the recent split between Robert Pattinson and longtime girlfriend, FKA Twigs. The actor is currently in talks to star in the upcoming film, Good Time, based on the Elmore Leonard novel, The Big Bounce. But, outside of films, what has he been up to?
Here are some of the things wrong with Robert Pattinson.
He Hasn’t Moved On From Kristen Stewart
It’s been over two years since Rob got booted out of the Twilight crew, but his status as Bella’s brother hasn’t stopped there. Since then, he’s hooked up with a whole host of famous faces, including some serious film industry power players. It hasn’t quite been a string of successful relationships, however, as he still struggles to find the right partner, even as he’s now engaged to his longtime companion, Emily Brown. But, in the end, no one can ever take the place of Kristen Stewart.
He Is Still Trying To Find His Place In The Cinema Aisle
It’s been a bit of a transition time for Pattinson, as he went from being Edward’s brother to being on his own as a partner and co-star. But, as a solo actor, his biggest obstacle has been finding his place in the cinematic aisles. The Twilight franchise shifted to a universe where vampires and werewolves no longer had to rely on the sun to survive, so many of his scenes in recent years have revolved around either night shots or low lighting. While this has been a fantastic opportunity for him, it’s not exactly what he was trained for.
He Doesn’t Always Gets The Part He Signifies
Though he’s appeared in some incredible films, like Batman v Superman and Alien: Covenant, due to his status as an Oscar-nominated actor, the majority of his roles in recent years have been bit parts and cameos. While he’s always been willing to take on small roles to maintain his acting career, it’s not the kind of role he wants to end up with. Aside from the occasional romantic lead role, he’s mainly stuck playing the part of a weird uncle, a nerf herder, or the voice of a dog or dinosaur. And in case you were wondering, he does get the part he portrays sometimes. Just not always the ones he wants.
He Hires Friends From The Industry To Work On Sets
One of the biggest breaks of Pattinson’s career was landing the role of Edward Cullen in Twilight. And what a role it was! On the set of the movie he had a close-knit group of friends, which he still keeps in touch with. They all worked on the film and shared a house in London while they was filming. While that experience was a fantastic opportunity for him, it’s not something he wants to become commonplace. After all, no one deserves to be in a position where they have to rely on people they know and trust to get the job done. He’d rather find a small group of hand-selected professionals who he can rely on to bring his vision to life on screen.
He Prefers To Work In Medium-Sized Films
While it’s been an incredible run for Rob, the past few years have been challenging, to say the least. With so much uncertainty surrounding the future of the Twilight franchise, he decided to take a step back, and the smaller the better. Since then, he’s mostly worked in smaller films, like Midnight Sun and The Lost Boy, where he’s had more of a central role. It’s not that he wants to take a backseat to the bigger films, he just wants to focus on doing his best work and letting the chips fall where they may.
He Is A Filmmaker
In addition to his success as an actor, Rob has become a filmmaker. He made his short film, Bait, in 2015, and followed it up with a second short, The Lost Girls, last year. He also wrote and directed the 2014 movie, Watermelon As a Base, which premiered at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival. With so much experience under his belt, it’s clear that he wants to continue exploring film, even if it’s just behind the camera.
He Is The Co-Founder Of A Production Company
In addition to his acting career, Rob is also the co-founder of a production company called Shortcuts. The company’s mission is to create original stories for film and TV. They’ve produced several shorts, including, most recently, a charming short called Paper Towns, which they sold to Warner Bros. The company also has a first-look deal with Netflix. While we await the release of Paper Towns, you can see a trailer here.
He Is Getting Married Soon
Recently, it was announced that Pattinson is set to marry his longtime companion of three years, Emily Brown. The couple met while filming Robin Hood in the UK three years ago. While they’ve been a couple ever since, it wasn’t until recently that Rob started to actively pursue the role of a lifetime. On his Instagram, he tagged Brown and wrote, “It’s official, I’m getting married.” The wedding is reportedly set to take place in Spring 2018, in the UK, and will be a low-cost, private affair. There won’t be any press releases, no celebrity guests, and no fanfare. Just a small, intimate gathering with family and friends. Congrats!
