It seems like only yesterday that we were all going crazy over Ke$ha and her comeback single “TiK ToK” (and, if you’ll recall, we were pretty darned close to calling her the next POTUS). But here we are, over a year later, and Ke$ha is no longer our obsession, as she’s taken a backseat to another pop culture phenomenon: Robert Pattinson. Y’all know what they say about men and their hips, right? Well, apparently, so does Robert Pattinson.
The English actor/musician/director is, at the moment, the most photographed man in the world. The majority of his photos hit the newsstands in an attempt to capture the hearts of millions of Twihards (his legion of young female fans). Some of the other titles that follow him around the globe include:
- The Twilight Saga
- Venus
- Pale
- Cosmo
- Elvis
- Romeo and Juliet
- Dune
- Passion
- Death on the Nile
And now, we’re being treated not just to his good looks, but also to his wit. Remember how, when asked about the secret to his eternal youth, he quipped, “I believe in magic.” Well, he might just be right. Over the past year, he’s created quite the magic spell, and it isn’t just limited to Hollywood. The internet has blossomed with stories of women (and men) falling head over heels for Pattinson, and these days, he seems to be constantly busy promoting his upcoming films.
A Royal Appearance
On January 14, 2017, almost 600 people gathered in London for the “Twilight Concert.” It wasn’t your typical music gig, as Prince Harry and his wife Meghan also happened to be there, soaking up the British performance art. (And yes, we do mean “soak.”) Though the couple didn’t attend the concert themselves, their children did, and they were seated front and center, clapping along and connecting with the audience in a way that comes with years of experience of being in the spotlight.
And it wasn’t just Harry and his wife who were treating the sold-out concert to be a night to remember. Pattinson (in a leather jacket and skinny jeans) looked dashing, as did his band, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. They played a number of classic songs from the franchise and also segued into a number of Prince songs, including “Let’s Go Crazy,” “1999,” and “Purple Rain.”
It’s not just the famous faces that have caught the attention of Pattinson’s legion of fans. Actor Aaron Paul, best known for playing Jesse James in the TV show “Breaking Bad,” was also there that night, and he was treated like a rock star. (Yes, we’re sure that Aaron Paul would have appreciated it if they had played “Treat Me Like a Pro,” but we digress.)
A Self-Titled Album
Not content with just being the most photographed man in the world, Robert Pattinson has also been causing a stir on social media with his new album, entitled “Self-Titled.” The project was announced in December and was met with widespread praise from fans. The album features eleven tracks, ranging from ballads to hard rock anthems. It also pays homage to the late Kurt Cobain, who died from suicide in 1994. (Yes, that Kurt Cobain.) On March 10, 2017, Pattinson released the album’s lead single, “New Person, Same Old Story,” and the song quickly went viral, racking up millions of views on YouTube. In true celebrity fashion, one of the clips shows him performing the song live, with a guitar pick in the shape of a snake. (Yes, we’re sure that snake had a very useful purpose and was not just some random decorative element.)
“New Person, Same Old Story” also appears on the album, and it’s easily one of the highlights. The track features an aggressive guitar riff, as well as lyrics that reference the band Rage Against the Machine, with whom he has a mutual admiration society. The music video was directed by Scott Beck and shows Pattinson performing the song in front of a colorful backdrop, as a wide variety of animals (including cats, dogs, and horses) dance around him.
An Upcoming Film And Solo Tour
Speaking of mutual admiration societies, it might be worth mentioning that one of Robert Pattinson’s favorite bands is none other than the band Rage Against the Machine. (Yes, we’re sure that Rage Against the Machine would have agreed had they heard about his admiration.) He’s even named one of his solo tours after one of their songs: the “Justice for All” tour. Which brings us to yet another reason why he’s such a rock star: his music, his movies, and his fans all seem to gel together.
Pattinson hasn’t been idle since his last album release in 2015, and he’s been hard at work on a number of exciting projects. In addition to the upcoming film, which is currently in post-production, he’s also serving as a creative director for Louis Vuitton’s fashion line. He’s also been busy recording solo material, which will be released post-twilight. (Although we don’t expect any albums during or after the filming of “The Twilight Saga.”) He even has a project in the works with fashion designer Stella McCartney, who is also the widow of musician Sir Paul McCartney.
Speaking of fashion and designer collaborations, Pattinson’s fans have also had the opportunity to contribute to a fashion line for the actor. They have designed a number of items for the brand, including T-shirts, hoodies, and baseball caps. The best part is that all of these items feature unique designs that are inspired by the singer’s “Bond Street” film series, in which he plays a drug lord. So, essentially, if you love Robert Pattinson, then you love designer labels, too.
There’s no question that the English actor has been creating quite the magic spell, and it isn’t just limited to Hollywood. His fans have been joining forces for a “Robin Hood”-themed sleepover, complete with archery, falconry, and, of course, a campfire. (That last one is essential for any good fairy tale.) One of the participants even created this beautiful fabric wall hanging, which features an illustration of the beautiful Kestrel, the falcon that Pattinson’s character, Tom, falls in love with in the first installment of the series. (We’re pretty sure that this gorgeous tapestry would look just as stunning in person as it does on the wall.)
An Actor With A Decent Screen Time
It’s been a while since Robert Pattinson graced the silver screen with a leading role. He had a bit part in the drama “Into the Woods,” which was released in 2015, and since then, he’s mostly been cast as himself in a variety of music videos and cameo appearances. (Yes, we’re sure that Paul McCartney would have approved of his cameo appearance in the “Space Tourist” music video.) But what’s kept him busy outside of acting is creating music and hanging out with his famous friends. He’s been known to post pictures with A-list celebs on his social media platforms, including Anna Kendrick, who stars in the upcoming “Life of Pi” with him, along with Jason Bateman and Jack Nicholson. (Those are some pretty heavy hitters.)
The English actor is also close friends with fashion designer Marc Jacobs, and the two often attend each other’s parties. (Yes, we’re sure that Marc Jacobs would have approved of his guest appearance at his own fashion show.) He’s also been seen partying with model Heidi Klein, as well as actresses Rebecca De Mornay and Christina Aguilera. (We’re pretty sure that they wouldn’t mind another appearance on his solo tour, either.)
