Robert Pattinson is back. After a nearly three-year hiatus, the former ‘Twilight’ heartthrob returns in the upcoming movie ‘Life’, where he plays a central role alongside Hollywood greats Morgan Freeman, Kate Winslet and Judi Dench. In ‘Life’, Pattinson takes on three separate stories – a troubled young man, a paranoid schizophrenic and an elderly man facing his mortality. The actor describes the film as “an ensemble piece about people wrestling with the meaning of life.”

The critically acclaimed ‘Life’ will be released in UK cinemas on 19 June, but fans can already get a sneak peek at Robert Pattinson in action in the movie’s first trailer.

Although ‘Twilight’ ended a decade ago, today the franchise still makes up a significant chunk of Hollywood’s annual output – with the most recent film ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ having been released in 2012. The last in the series, ‘Breaking Dawn – Part 2′, is currently in production and will be released in November 2016. Fans of the films can look forward to more heartache as the main story continues in the upcoming third film, ‘Breaking Dawn – Part 3′.

The franchise is set to continue with ‘Maze Runner: The Final Season’ in October 2017, and has also been touted as a potential TV series. While you may feel that your favorite ‘Twilight’ installment has come and gone, the saga has, in fact, only just begun.

A New Dawn

After ‘Twilight’s’ finale in 2012, the 29-year-old actor took a step back from public life and focused on what he described as “personal and private matters” – including his marriage to FKA Twigs in 2014 and the birth of their son, Flynn. In the years that followed, Robert Pattinson mostly remained under the radar, popping up here and there in films and on social media.

While the actor has kept a relatively low profile since then, he did make headlines in May 2016 for his involvement in a motorcycle accident in Venice, Italy. According to police, the accident, which left the actor with minor injuries, was caused by bad weather conditions. During the time that followed, Pattinson kept a low profile as he healed from his injuries but also made headlines for reportedly renewing his contract with his record label, Kobalt. The singer-songwriter Taylor Swift recently revealed that she and the actor are good friends and that the accident “put [Pattinson’s] career in perspective.”

A Renaissance Man

While much of the world went gaga over Taylor Swift’s debut album, ‘Fearless’, what many didn’t know is that the critically acclaimed LP was produced by the Black Hippies – an acclaimed production collective headed up by Flying Lotus. Along with Swift, the collective’s members include the aforementioned Morgan Freeman, Kate Winslet, Zoe Kravitz and more. Lotus also co-produced Arcade Fire’s critically acclaimed ‘The Hurry Show’, which was named Album of the Year at this year’s Grammys.

Speaking of Grammy Awards, Pattinson is up for Best Musical Show Album for ‘Bad Liar’, the soundtrack to the hit Broadway musical based on the movie ‘The Liar’. The singer-songwriter and producer Pharrell Williams is also nominated for an award for his work on the ‘Despicable Me 3′ soundtrack. It was recently revealed that Williams and Pattinson had worked together on ‘Bad Liar’, with the actor contributing vocals and playing guitar – one of the main instruments on the album.

A Life in Movies

With so much media attention, it’s no surprise that fans of ‘Twilight’ and other Pattinson projects have followed his career closely. Over the years, the actor has steadily accumulated a back-catalog of movies ranging from teen romance to historical epics. He even dabbled in horror with his role in ‘Venom’, the most recent film by the great director Tim Burton. In 2016 alone, Robert Pattinson will appear in seven different movies, with more on the way. (He is currently filming ‘Mary Queen of Scots’, the sequel to ‘The King’s Battle’.)

While some may accuse him of having “tried every trick in the book” after his near three-year absence from the public eye, Robert Pattinson has only been hiding out because he’s been so busy. In a recent interview with GQ, the actor discussed how he has filled his time during lockdown, “I did loads of different yoga poses, I played tennis, I jogged, I did swim lessons – I tried everything! – so that my body would remember how to move again. And I came back with this Zen garden in my living room. I mean, it’s just a little thing, but it’s very calming. I like to come back to it whenever I need a minute of peace.”

While you may not have seen Robert Pattinson in a while, make sure to keep an eye out for him in the upcoming months. He’s back, and he’s not hiding anymore. In fact, the actor may be more visible than ever before. We can’t guarantee that he’ll be an active Facebook or Instagram user, but he will, most likely, be found on the web – especially since he now has a significant other to share his adventures with.
