It’s no secret that the music video for Pattinson’s ‘Twilight’ soundtrack single, ‘Slightly’, was filmed at Buckingham Palace. After all, who wouldn’t want to hang out with the most famous people in the world? Not to mention that the iconic abode is the ultimate backdrop for any ballad. And that’s exactly what this one is – a heart-wrenching ballad about lost love.

However, it’s not all doom and gloom. In fact, the video also features cameos by some of the biggest names in British history. Topping the list is undoubtedly Queen Victoria – the longest-reigning monarch in British history. The legendary queen makes a brief appearance at the palace gates as Lady Flora, one of her trusted ladies-in-waiting. As the queen passes, she notices Flora’s distress and bids her to be of good cheer. It’s a small moment that nonetheless adds a touch of humanity to an otherwise regal affair.

As already established, ‘Slightly’ is the first track on the Twilight soundtrack and, not surprisingly, its lyrics are filled with references to the 2008 movie. The track opens with a sample from the film and features the unmistakable guitar licks of acclaimed British musician, Tommy Emmanuel. The music video was directed by Shaun Baker and it’s no secret that he had a hand in capturing many of the movie’s key images. In fact, the director has described the video as being “pretty much” a tribute to the film.
