It’s hard to believe that it’s been 15 years since *Spider-Man* shook the film world by introducing us to a new kind of hero—the socially conscious Spider-Man. Since then, the webslinger’s story has been told in various media, and thanks to Sony’s recent reboot of the franchise, it even has the potential to be told again.

That’s not the only tale Timothée Chalamet and Robert Pattinson have in common these days. The handsome actors share an incredible onscreen chemistry, and it seems their real-life personalities couldn’t be more opposite. For starters, Chalamet, 33, is an award-winning actor who has had a string of prestigious supporting roles, including in *The King’s Speech* and *Call Me by Your Name*.

As for Pattinson, 29, he is best known for playing the tortured artist and romantic lead in the *Twilight* franchise. The actor has recently shifted gears by appearing in critically acclaimed films like the Coen Brothers’ *The Sea of Trees* and Luc Besson’s *The Hundred-Foot Journey*—not to mention the upcoming *The Emoji Movie* with Donald Glover and Anna Faris. Needless to say, it’s been a busy year for Pattinson.

So it should come as no surprise that they would pair up for a film. That they would fall in love and decide to get engaged should come as no surprise as well. What should surprise us, though, is just how genuinely good their onscreen chemistry seems to be and how happy it makes us.

Chalamet’s Unconventional Approach To Acting

Pattinson’s Perspective On Marriage

It’s been a while since we’ve seen Robert Pattinson share something so intimate. Sure, he’s appeared in various press junkets and interviews, but usually, he’s kept a low profile—even when promoting high-profile films. That has changed this year.

The actor has been open about his struggles with addiction and mental health, which he’s addressed in his acclaimed 2018 documentary *Lost In La Valley*. In the film, viewers get a glimpse into Pattinson’s life during the making of his latest film, *The Lighthouse*. While recounting the making of the movie, Pattinson opens up about his wedding day to Emily Brown in early 2018 and about what it was like to enter into a committed relationship with someone he met online.

He shared his excitement about getting engaged with a tweet on New Year’s Eve, writing, “So happy to ring in the new year with my best friend Emily. We are so in love and to be married soon. Couldn’t be more happy. 2019 will be our year.”

While it’s exciting to see Pattinson share his engagement with the world, his upcoming wedding to Emily Brown is still something to behold. The actor reportedly picked out the dress—a white vintage wedding dress with ivory lace—and is planning to walk down the aisle in a winter wonderland, complete with a wedding party of close friends and family.

Pattinson explained the significance of the wedding and why he’s decided to shunned the traditional route: “I’ve always been a bit of a renegade when it comes to social norms and expectations. I suppose it’s fitting that I should continue to do so now that I’m getting married. A wedding is a very personal and special event, and I’ve always been drawn to those moments when families and friends gather to celebrate.”

The *Twilight* actor is planning a wedding that’s reflective of his singular style, with an evening reception that will feature music from his upcoming album as well as recitations from works by William Shakespeare. Among his guests will be Emma Fishwick, a wedding expert, who will help design the perfect day.

With all the wonderful characters he’s played over the past 15 years, it’s safe to say that Spider-Man has helped introduce us to an unconventional group of heroes. Now that he’s found true love with an actress he met on set, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if we soon see him embrace a new calling—helping others to transform their lives for the better.
