So, Robert Pattinson is finally stepping out of his shell and into the limelight again. The latest from England is that he’s been named the next Batman. While we’re sure that Burton has more than a few surprises up his sleeve with this new version of the famed Caped Crusader, the real question is: did Robert Pattinson deserve it?

  • While promoting his new movie, The Batman, Robert Pattinson has been named the next Batman
    • The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
    • The Dark Knight (2008)
    • The Dark Knight Returns (2012)
    • Nightmare Before Christmas (2006)

Let’s take a look at some of the reasons why Robert Pattinson doesn’t quite deserve to don the cape and cowl.

Misogyny

Now, we don’t actually know if Robert Pattinson is a sexist or a misogynist. We do know that he has a reputation for being quite cold towards women and we’ve even seen a few interviews where he’s displayed a pretty entitled attitude.

In one particularly memorable interview, the actor lashed out at the media for speculating about his private life. He also made some pretty shocking comments about Taylor Swift. He said:

“I don’t know quite how to put this without being a bit crude, but if she wanted to come and sit on my knee, there’s not a single part of me that would refuse her.”

So, on that front, he is definitely showing his entitlement.

Zero Creativity

We get it, Robert Pattinson. You’re a famous Hollywood star. You’ve got a big fan base and a lot of people are interested in what you have to say. So what if you don’t feel like doing interviews or sitting for press photos? That’s your choice, but it doesn’t mean that we as fans have to suffer.

In a perfect world, celebrities would be willing to engage with fans on a regular basis and make the effort to put on a decent show. Unfortunately, that’s not the case for Robert Pattinson. He doesn’t seem to want to waste his time with the press or the public when he could be working on his next script or finding a new role.

It doesn’t help that he doesn’t seem to have any interest in comics or fiction in general. He’s never made a secret of his disdain for superhero movies, saying:

“They can be quite boring. I would rather go to see a film that hasn’t been made yet than go and see a superhero movie.”

If you think that Batman is a boring superhero, you’ve clearly never had the pleasure of watching The Dark Knight. That movie was filled with nuance and subtle humor that made it a masterclass in cinematic storytelling. It was one of the first superhero films that didn’t focus on special effects and over-the-top fight scenes.

Arrogance

Let’s be honest: Robert Pattinson doesn’t exactly have the best track record when it comes to interviews or public appearances. He can be arrogant, loud, and over-the-top. So, it’s no wonder that people think he’s arrogant.

Forbes recently published an interview with the British actor where he talks about how he wants to redefine what is considered attractive. He even goes so far as to say that he doesn’t understand why people have an issue with him being smart. He said:

“I read constantly. I also have an extensive vocabulary, which doesn’t necessarily suit all occasions. But in certain situations, it can be quite useful.”

You can’t say that you don’t understand why people are bothered by your arrogance; after all, you are the next Batman!

The list of reasons why Robert Pattinson doesn’t quite deserve to be the next Batman is quite extensive. He has publicly said that he doesn’t like interviews and doesn’t feel the need to be accessible to the general public. Furthermore, he doesn’t seem interested in comics or fiction in general; his sole focus is on being an actor. Finally, his arrogance and distaste for interviews and the public are what led to him being chosen for the part. It would be fair to say that he doesn’t deserve it.
