Taylor Lautner, Robert Pattinson and Yaoi are three of the most recognizable Hollywood names in LGBTQ culture. While Lautner and Pattinson come from film noir classics, and Yaoi is a Japanese manga series, what do these three celebrities have in common? They’re all interracial couples, starring in some of the most memorable films of all time.

Here’s a brief history of interracial and LGBTQ+ relationships in film.

A Brief History Of Interracial And LGBTQ+ Relationships In Film

Back in the 1940s, Hollywood celebrities were mostly white, and their movies were mostly about white people. That changed in the 1950s, when television and the movies became more intertwined, and audiences were exposed to different races and cultures.

The civil rights movement was also gaining a lot of ground, which meant more acceptance of individuals who were different from the norm. This led to more diverse casts in films, with leading men and women of color, and LGBTQ+ characters being commonplace.

How Did Taylor Lautner And Robert Pattinson Meet?

Taylor Lautner was born on October 17, 1980, in Calgary, Canada. He began acting at a young age, and had his breakthrough role in 1999, with the release of the film Last Knights. Since then, he has appeared in major Hollywood productions, and won a leading role in the 2013 film Dark Shadows. He currently resides in Los Angeles, California.

Robert Pattinson was born on February 17, 1983, in London, England. He is best known for his role as vampire Edward Cullen in the Twilight film series. He has since appeared in other well-known films, like Life, as well as in lesser-known films, like What Is Love?, where he played the straightest man in show business. He currently resides in London, England.

Did They Have Kids Or Is The Rumored Third Wedding Just Rumors?

While neither Taylor Lautner nor Robert Pattinson have confirmed their rumoured marriage, they have been very public about their relationship. After starring in the Twilight film series, the duo starred together in the romantic comedy, The Favourite. They also have a child named Ella, born in 2006. And while they have yet to officially wed a third time, the rumors of a marriage between these two have never been more exciting to follow.

Why Is It Important To Represent LGBTQ Culture In Media?

There are so many ways to look at this situation, but as an openly lesbian, married to a man, I can see it from multiple perspectives. Being married to a man who is also a part of the LGBTQ community, it’s important to me that my husband represents the community of which he is a part.

The representation of LGBTQ characters and stories in film is extremely limited. There are very few openly LGBTQ+ leading men and women in Hollywood. We haven’t come close to equality, and many people still feel that being LGBTQ is a bad thing. It isn’t. We deserve to be seen and represented in media, and stories like these three Hollywood stars make me incredibly proud to be part of this movement.
