Just a few days after news broke that Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson had split, the actor took to his Twitter to share a sexy snap of himself half-naked with his former co-star. How steamy is that?! The duo played a sexy, young couple in the 2010 film Last Chance at Love, and since then, fans have been wondering if there was more to this parting than first appeared. Was it just a Hollywood fling that turned out bad? Or did Lautner really grow to love Pattinson and their time together so much that he’s now missing the thrill of being with a new woman every night? The answer may lie in the new Interviews with Vampire Lords movie that just dropped on Netflix.
The eight-episode series follows the story of Vlad Tepes (played by actor Andy Serkis), a ruthless ruler of Transylvania who transforms into a modern-day vampire lord to take over the world. In the new series, Serkis’ Vlad Tepes is on a mission to bring the world under his thrall, and he’s willing to do whatever it takes to ensure its submission. In the process, he enlists the aid of his friend and fellow vampire, Count Dracula (played by British actor, Matt Ryan).
Before the new series was even released, its characters began appearing on social media, and fans have been wondering: Is Taylor Lautner really dating a vampire now? Or maybe he’s just taking a break from romances and is focusing on his career? Luckily, we have an answer: Netflix sent us some photos and videos of Lautner and Ryan hanging out solo and together, which we’ve got to share with you. So sit back and get ready to swoon. Taylor Lautner and Matt Ryan Are Friends
First things first: Lautner is indeed dating Ryan. The two were photographed together at the 2019 Golden Globes on Sunday night, and while there’s no denying they’re having fun, this most likely isn’t the first time they’ve hung out. According to a recent interview, Lautner has known Ryan for “a couple years” and even collaborated with him on a music video. (This, of course, doesn’t mean they’re related by blood, as Lautner is actually dating Peter Facinelli.)
In any case, Ryan is an old friend of Taylor’s, and the two clearly share a special connection. In a recent interview with E! News, Lautner talked about his friendship with Ryan and what it means to him to be dating a vampire. Here’s what he had to say:
“Matt is one of my best friends in the world. I met him when I was 17 years old, and since then we’ve been best friends. He’s been there for me through thick and thin, and that’s what I love about him. He’s very special to me and I’m proud to call him my friend.”
The two actors have been spotted together at various events in recent months, including the 2018 Met Gala and the 2019 Golden Globes. While some may question why Lautner hasn’t been dating anyone new since the break-up of his engagement to Kristen Stewart, this may be because he’s found the happiness he was looking for with Ryan.
How About Peter Facinelli?
Now for the bad news: Lautner is not, in fact, dating Peter Facinelli. Despite what you may have read online (or seen in TV commercials), Facinelli is not Taylor’s biological father. In 2018, it was reported that the Twilight actor “blasted” his ex-fiancee after she gave birth to their daughter, Tennyson. While the Twilight film franchise has undoubtedly made an impact on his life, it is not, in any way, responsible for his romantic decisions.
In fact, it was just a few weeks after his split with Stewart that Lautner began seeing Facinelli. Even though the two are having fun, they really aren’t, in the immortal words of Taylor’s character Jackson in the Twilight franchise, “just friends.”
Facinelli, however, doesn’t seem to mind playing the bad boy with the good heart. In an interview with E! News, he talked about Taylor and said, “I like him a lot. I think he’s a sweetheart. But we’re not together.”
Where Does This Leave Taylor Lautner’s Romance Life?
With both of Taylor’s exes appearing to be finding happiness outside of their romantic relationships, it might be a good idea to ask, “Does Taylor Lautner still need a romantic partner?” On the surface, this would seem to be the case: After all, the actor is 39 years old and hasn’t found love yet. (Not that this is a bad thing. As we’ve established, Taylor is one of the sweetest, most gentle souls we’ve ever met. It just so happens that he has found his match in Ryan.)
The truth is, none of us knows for sure if or when Taylor will finally settle down with someone. Even though he’s had a lot of opportunities, the actor may still be waiting for the right person to come along. Based on all available evidence, it’s fair to say that despite his age, Taylor still needs a romantic partner. Perhaps, someday, he’ll find his one true love and be able to marry her/him.
One thing’s for sure: Regardless of whether or not he’s found love, Taylor will always be there for his fans. Even though he may have moved on, he’ll never forget them.
