When it comes to celebrity relationships, we often think about Hollywood stars. But did you know that there are actually other ‘star couples’ out there? We’re not just talking about Taylor and Scott, here! There are many interesting cases of famous pairs who managed to stay friends even after years of working together. If you’re curious, here are five of the most interesting celebrity relationships of all time.
George Clooney and Madonna
Madonna and George Clooney are arguably two of the most influential women in Hollywood history. The Material Girl’s influence in music and film is undisputed, and her work with activist and humanitarian causes is also well-known. Their collaboration began in early 2014 when they both appeared in the film adaptation of the bestselling novel The Fault in Our Stars. From that point on, they worked together frequently both onscreen and off, even appearing together at the Golden Globes in 2015. The two have often been photographed hand in hand, and have even discussed the possibility of marriage. For more than a decade, Clooney has been married to Amal Clooney, but he and Madonna still seem to have plenty of romance left in them.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie
One of the most enduring celebrity couples is also one of the most recognizable ones. While they haven’t always been together, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have certainly worked hard to make their romance and subsequent relationship famous. The couple famously dated for more than a year before tying the knot in January 2005. Since then, they’ve been a steady presence at each other’s sides, appearing often arm-in-arm at premieres and other public events. Their children, Pax and Vivian, now attend the same school, and it seems that the bond between the father and daughter is as strong as ever.
Michelle Pfeiffer and Michael Jackson
Another famous acting couple who worked together frequently before eventually tying the knot was Michelle Pfeiffer and Michael Jackson. The two were first introduced in 1977 when they starred in the film An Officer and a Gentleman. Since then, they’ve worked together frequently, with each other’s families often vacationing together. Pfeiffer is an exceptional actress who has starred in more than 100 films. She and Jackson finally tied the knot in 2006 after dating for more than 12 years. Since then, they’ve appeared together at various events, including the 2009 MTV Movie Awards, where they were each presented with an award.
Konstantin Stanislavski and Olga Tschechowa
If there’s one thing we love about Hollywood celebrities, it’s their romances. We get to follow their ups and downs, fascinated by their relationships and by the way they interact with each other. We often wonder how these high-profile couples stay friends, let alone end up together. Konstantin Stanislavski and Olga Tschechowa are certainly a couple we’d want to follow, and it’s clear that their collaborative work as a director and playwright has benefited both of them in ways that their personal lives could not. Tschechowa is a respected theatre director who has worked with Stanislavski for more than 70 years, while Stanislavski is a famous Russian theatre practitioner. Together, they’ve worked on more than 20 projects, with Stanislavski being the most credited of all of them with more than 30 years’ experience. Perhaps their long-running professional relationship is what enabled them to remain friends and collaborators even after years of working together. Their bodies were laid to rest side by side in October 2016, and they are both buried in a private ceremony at the Stanislavski Memorial Cemetery in Moscow, Russia.
Dustin Hoffman and Anna Wintour
Hoffman is one of the most distinguished American actors of all time, known for his versatile and nuanced performances in films such as Street Scene, Tootsie, and Capitol. He has also won an Academy Award and was nominated for a Golden Globe. Wintour is the renowned fashion director of The New York Times and the founder of Vogue Publishing. She is also the godmother of Alexis Smith, the daughter of Prince Charles and Princess Diana. The two met while working on a film together in the 1970s, and Wintour quickly became a regular presence at Hoffman’s side, sometimes traveling with the actor to Europe for his health treatments. When not on set, the two collaborated on fashion and lifestyle projects, with Wintour even writing a regular column for the actor. They remained close friends even after their professional partnership ended. The couple’s bodies were interred next to each other at the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in New York in December 2016. They have a family mausoleum there, which also contains the remains of Wintour’s parents and her sister, Peggy.
Robert De Niro and Marshawn Lynch
While some celebrity relationships are well-known for being tumultuous and dramatic, others are simply a matter of convenience. Such is the case with Robert De Niro and Marshawn Lynch. The two worked together frequently in the late 1980s and early 1990s, appearing in several films and on TV shows. They even starred in a short film together in 1995 called Hanging With Friends. After that, their association was limited to appearances at film festivals and other public events. The two have remained close friends ever since, with De Niro even attending Lynch’s wedding in 2015. It seems that their on-screen partnership was simply a matter of being in the right place at the right time, as they both attended an alma mater of Lynch’s, the University of California, Berkeley, where they met. Their bodies were buried in the same New York City cemetery in April 2017, six months after their passing. A family tomb contains the remains of Marshawn’s mother and three brothers.
Robin Williams and John Candy
Robin Williams was an outstanding comedy actor who appeared in films such as Good Morning, Vietnam, Dead Poets Society, and Aladdin. He was also a gifted stand-up comedian who won an Academy Award for his stand-up specials. Candy, whose real name was John Joseph Gaspard Kennedy, was an English comedian best known for his characteristically vulgar routines, which often featured sexually charged humor. The two men were first introduced to each other while filming the television series Maude in 1971. They then worked together frequently over the next few years, with their on-screen pairing appearing in several films and TV shows. They remained close friends after filming those projects, with the two spending time together during production of Candy’s Last Stand in 1974. Much like De Niro and Lynch, they were both appearing at the same wedding in 2015, with Williams even performing a stand-up set at the ceremony. They are both also buried in New York City’s Greenburgh Gardens Cemetery, alongside each other’s family members.
Matt Lauer and Joe Flack
We’ve saved the best for last, folks. If there’s one celebrity couple we want to hear from you, it’s Matt Lauer and Joe Flack. The two were first introduced to each other at a New York City nightclub in 1999, and their professional partnership resulted in more than a decade of on-air chemistry, memorable interviews, and breaking news stories. They were the first couple to be interviewed by Megyn Kelly when she began hosting NBC’s Today in 2007. Since then, the two appeared together frequently, with Lauer even presenting the Golden Globe to Flack in 2016. The two announced their separation in October 2017, with Lauer acknowledging that the decision was mutual. Lauer is currently a co-host of The Today Show, while Flack is one of the regular contributors to ESPN’s The Undefeated. The couple have one child together, a son named Henry. Lauer and Flack were both buried in the same cemetery in New York City in May 2018.
There are many interesting stories behind these celebrity relationships. But what’s the most interesting thing about them?
Well, for starters, none of these couples are actually related. That’s what’s most interesting about them. Many of these famous pairs have remained friends over the years, and it seems that the most prominent feature of their relationship is an appreciation for each other’s strengths. Taylor and Scott, for example, are both actors and work frequently together. But they’re also both very different individuals. Taylor, who is known for his serious acting style, has had several well-publicized relationships, while Scott has had a less-than-serious relationship with Victoria’s Secret model Bar Refaeli. And while the work relationships of these pairs may have been challenging at times, they all seem to have benefited their overall personal and professional lives.
So, while Hollywood may be full of couples who choose to be together, it doesn’t mean that all celebrity relationships are necessarily happy ones. These pairs have all managed to stay friends over the years, and that certainly deserves our attention. What’s your takeaways from this? Let us know!
