Ah, the legendary Robret. For those of you who haven’t heard of him, he is a fashion icon and businessman whose designs remain popular to this day. He began his notable career in the fashion industry as the head of a company called Chasen International, which specialized in bringing English style goods to Japan. Since then, he has gone on to found his own company, Robret Clothing Ltd., and become the designer of choice for the rich and famous. What sets him apart from other designers is the fact that he creates an entirely new look for each and every one of his customers, drawing from their personalities and tastes to produce unique and bespoke pieces that they can enjoy for years to come. He even goes that extra mile by creating special one-of-a-kind pieces just for them.
So you might be asking yourself, “What’s the deal? How can I get my hands on some Robret gear?” Well, read on, my friend, and I’ll tell you all you need to know.
The Man and His Vision
Believe it or not, Robret was not always famous. In fact, it took him a combined total of over a century to finally achieve the status he has today. He began his design career in the early 1900s, shortly after the death of his father. At the time, his family was wealthy and well-connected, so it was only a matter of time before he received an invitation to join a design studio. He initially turned the invitation down, as he did not see his future in fashion, but his mother convinced him to at least meet with the man who had invited him. They arrived at the studio and were shown around by the head designer, who happened to be Robret’s uncle. The designer explained to Robret that they were looking for an apprentice, someone to take the place of a recently deceased draughtsman who had helped establish the studio. The position would see the young man gain experience and showcase his talent. They would get to work, and in a couple of months, the young man would be able to present his own designs to the top brass at the studio.
This is when Robret, who was then 30 years old, said he had a better idea. He explained to his uncle that he saw his future in design not in the fashion industry, but in the creation of his very own line of clothing. He proceeded to tell the head designer that he had designed a new piece of clothing that he believed would be suitable for the office. In a matter of weeks, Robret was given his own office, along with a small staff. Over the next couple of decades, he went on to found his own company and brand, created unique and bespoke pieces for some of the most influential people in the world, and became a renowned and well-deserved fashion icon. Along the way, he designed menswear, womenswear, and even children’s wear. Nowadays, his designs still see frequent appearances in high-profile fashion magazines and on the red carpets, as people still desire his unique and stylish designs.
Where Can I Buy Robret Clothing?
Nowadays, it’s quite easy to find Robret Clothing. You can view the full collection online via their website, or you can visit one of their three London stores, which are located on Harley Street, Covent Garden, and on Park Lane. In addition, they have stores in Milan, Paris, and Istanbul, as well as numerous other cities across the globe. You can also purchase from their Ebay store, which currently has over 1150 active auctions selling Robret-designed products. All of this adds up to ensure that you can easily purchase anything from an authentic piece of vintage clothing to a contemporary silk tie.
How Do I Wear Robret?
Now that you’re equipped with the basics of the legendary designer’s fashion credentials and where you can buy his products, let’s take a look at how you wear him.
Wear him loud. The man is an iconic figure, and he still enjoys the status he has achieved in his lifetime. You can wear those amazing prints and bold colors with which he is known and beloved, or you can choose to play it safe by sticking to pastel colors and solid fabrics. Whatever you do, make sure that you put a bold face on it. You can also accessorize with a piece of jewellery or a watch, as these will add that extra touch of “zing” as the Brits would say.
Final Takeaway
In conclusion, I hope you enjoyed this article and learned something about a designer whose creations changed the way people dress. If you’d like to read more, here are some of my all-time favorite pieces by Robret.
The Iconic Sweater
This is perhaps the most recognizable and signature piece of clothing among fans of the designer. It’s been around since the 1800s and has been featured in nearly every vintage film and television show to date, most notably, Douglas Sirk’s 1956 film, Impatient Women, starring Joan Crawford and Evelyn Keyes. The piece is a V-neck sweater with a high collar with a black cord and trim. It is a style that is both classic and timeless.
The Zip-Up Jacket
This one has been covered extensively on this blog. It was originally designed for the designer’s daughter, Caroline, who later debuted the look for Victoria Beckham at the 2017 Victoria Beckham Spring Summer Fashion Show. The designer called it a “jacket with a built-in tie” and it’s been seen on the red carpet many times since then, most notably at the 2018 Golden Globe Awards. It is representative of Robret’s unique take on tailored jackets and his love of luxurious fabrics.
The Tracksuit
Yes, the tracksuit. You might be familiar with this one, as it’s been worn by Mark Wahlberg in the movie, The House of Gucci. This particular piece of clothing was designed for Gucci’s Creative Director, Alessandro Michele, and it marked a major turning point in the designer’s history. It set the company back on its feet after a couple of difficult years, and it’s been seen more often since then.
The tracksuit is simply a tracksuit with a jacket. It’s a unisex piece and has been seen on men and women alike, including Michael Bublé and Lady Gaga.
The Vintage Pullover
This year, see more people wearing vintage clothes than you’d see wearing something new. Why? It’s simple. There are a lot of amazing pieces of clothing from the past that look fabulous today. It’s all about finding the right piece and wearing it with confidence.
One Of My Favorite Robret Designs
This is one of my favorite designs by Robret. I love the way the designer played with different textures and used a beautiful thick silk against a beautifully tailored silhouette. The best part is that it still looks as good as it does today, which is quite the feat for a design that was first created in the 1930s.
