We’re quite lucky here at Wetpaint, as we get to witness some of the most exciting news stories first-hand. One of the biggest stories this month has to be the engagement and subsequent wedding of Hollywood royalty, Robert Pattinson and Zoe Kravitz. With a combined age of over 400 years, it was an occasion not to be missed. We’ve got the exclusive scoop on some of the most romantic photos from this enchanting event.
The Engagement
The engagement was a true love story. After meeting on the set of the 2005 indie film, The Last Kiss, the couple were instantly smitten with each other. They kept their relationship a secret for a while, not wanting to ruin their budding careers. In fact, Robert was so nervous about telling his parents about the engagement, he hid the proposal under a chocolate fountain at the premiere of the film in London. Although the media had already reported that the couple were an item, Robert still opted to hide the evidence.
Zoe was the first to propose. She knew just how much her loved one wanted to keep the news a secret and presented him with an engagement ring wrapped in a big, fat bow. When the time was right, she plucked the knife out of the cake, spun around, and planted a passionate kiss on her future husband. The media had to report on something after that.
The Wedding
The wedding was a fairy tale come true for both Robert and Zoe. A gorgeous ceremony was held at the Palace Hotel in London. The happy couple chose to splurge on their big day and opted for a luxury wedding dress in the form of a mermaid-style dress, which they wore for the ceremony and the reception. For the latter, they opted for a traditional church wedding and hired a twelve-piece band to play the classics from the ‘70s and ‘80s. Friends and family were in awe of their personal story, and it was made even more special by the fact that they both looked incredible at such a young age.
As for a wedding gift, Robert presented Zoe with a diamond-encrusted Louis Vuitton Handbag. The designer had previously created a special clutch for the Duchess of Cambridge, which was later used as a promotional gift by Louis Vuitton.
Romantic Pics
We’re not just talking about the engagement and wedding here – this also covers the whole arc of their love story. After their ceremony, the happy newlyweds enjoyed a romantic honeymoon in the Maldives, where they spent time exploring the island’s beauty and soaking up the sun. They released a joint statement to the press, saying that they wanted their wedding day to be a ‘giggle-fest’ and that they wanted to put a “fun spin” on the event. We couldn’t agree more!
The photos from their Maldives honeymoon were some of the most romantic we’ve ever seen. One of our favourite moments comes a few days into their trip, when they are lying in their hotel bathtub. We can’t help but feel that the relaxing bubble bath was a way of taking a break from the hectic pace of their wedding day. We also love how Robert opted for such a beautiful blue marble shower wall. It reminds us of the glorious Greek islands and the blueness of the sea. We can also see how making their wedding a ‘workcation’ would have been such a smart move. Many a newlywed has made the most of their wedding trip with their spouse, but rarely do you see a couple enjoying a working honeymoon. This could be because work often gets in the way of romance, but also because it brings a different dynamic to the relationship. For example, when you’re working together, there’s always a deadline to meet, so there’s less time to focus on your partner. Working also means that you’re apart from your spouse for longer periods of time, which in turn, makes you miss the person you love more. We can’t wait to see more of this beautiful story, which is undoubtedly one of the most romantic we’ve ever covered.
