It’s been four years since movie fans last saw Robert Pattinson on the big screen, but he’s still one of Hollywood’s most sought-after leading men. Since starring in the Twilight film series, the British beauty has steadily racked up a collection of acting awards, and is now set to appear in a wide-ranging number of high-profile projects.

Here’s a look at how the media have covered the handsome hunk since leaving screens behind him in 2012, as well as assembling a comprehensive list of his upcoming projects:

The List of Upcoming Projects

If you’re looking to follow in the footsteps of a hot young star, consider Robert Pattinson. After a four-year hiatus from acting, the British beauty has firmly established himself as one of Hollywood’s most in-demand leading men, with a string of award-winning performances behind him.

Since 2012, the 34-year-old has appeared in a number of major projects, ranging from highly anticipated sci-fi movies to adored indie darlings. He’s currently filming the highly anticipated sequel to the Twilight saga, and is also set to star in Woody Allen’s latest movie, entitled Cafe Society.

While some would argue that the time has come for Robert Pattinson to move on from acting, the actor seems intent on continuing to play some of Hollywood’s hottest characters. Here’s a look at some of his most promising upcoming projects.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn is easily the biggest project of Robert Pattinson’s upcoming filmography, and is the final installment in the series. Breaking Dawn will mark the tenth anniversary of the Twilight saga, which was first released in 2008. The massive film will mark a dramatic shift in focus for Robert Pattinson, who will no longer be playing a brooding teenager, but a grown and maturing man. The upcoming movie will be released in two parts, with the first arriving in theaters on December 21st. The film will then be available on demand starting on December 26th.

“There are three words I struggle with everyday: ‘Sober,’ ‘Normal,’ and ‘Happy,'” Robert Pattinson recently told Entertainment Tonight about the upcoming film. “I was really happy to be invited to be a part of this incredible anniversary celebration. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to show people who Robert Pattinson is now. It’s going to be an amazing ride.”

Cafe Society

Woody Allen is one of Hollywood’s most prolific and respected directors, with a career that spans almost 70 years and over 30 movies. Allen’s most recent film, Cafe Society, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2018, and stars some of Hollywood’s biggest stars, including Judi Dench, Cate Blanchett, and Kate Winslet. Based on events that took place at the turn of the last century, the film follows four women as they navigate the social dynamics of Parisian high society.

One of the many reasons why Cafe Society has become such a highly anticipated movie is due to the fact that it will bring together three of Hollywood’s greatest female leads: Judi Dench, Cate Blanchett, and Kate Winslet. This will be the first time that the three have appeared on screen together since winning an Oscar for their roles in the 2005 movie, The Duchess. Dench plays the matron of the house, a role that was previously portrayed by Grace Kelly in the original 1939 film. Blanchett takes on the role of one of the socialites, and Winslet is cast as the society hostess.

While the film has been shrouded in secrecy, we know that the story involves socialites, so it’s no wonder that Robert Pattinson has been attached to the project. According to Page Six, the 34-year-old has been spotted shopping for costumes and accessories for the movie. He’s also been in negotiations to play the male lead, with Benedict Cumberbatch and Matt Damon being mentioned as potential alternatives. If you’re looking for a new movie to watch this coming winter holiday season, consider Cafe Society.

High-Rise

High-Rise is a Netflix Original Series that follows the staff and residents of the luxurious Peaky Blinders-style apartment building, The Spire. The first season of High-Rise focuses on the residents and management of the building, as they navigate the vicissitudes of life in post-pandemic London. The second season is set to premiere on August 4th, and will explore the themes of privacy, community, and identity within the walls of The Spire. The series was created by Andrew Knight and Simon Maxwell, and is loosely based on Leisure, a collection of short stories by J. G. Ballard. For fans of Ballard, who died in September 2017, this is an exciting project to keep an eye out for.

Joker Game

In September 2018, it was announced that Warner Bros. had acquired the rights to adapt the classic 1930s board game, The Joker Game. The move marks yet another collaboration between director Todd Phillips and comedian Russell Brand, who are both set to return for the project. The Joker Game is another high-profile project that will bring together a number of Hollywood’s biggest names. As mentioned above, Todd Phillips is set to direct and star in the film, with a script by Oscar winner Matt Wickline. Joining him will be Brand, who will be playing one of the two lead roles; Michelle Pfeiffer (who recently starred in Disney’s latest live-action remake of the animated classic, The Nutcracker and the Four Realms) and Rosemarie DeWitt (who recently starred in Sony’s All Men Call). Together, the three will be playing a group of wealthy socialites who set out to bring down a corrupt mayor in 1931 Los Angeles.

This coming winter holiday season, consider watching one of Hollywood’s most prestigious production houses take on a classic American game that was first published in the 1930s. What’s more, the film will be directed by one of the most accomplished and well-known directors in modern Hollywood.

Isle of Dogs

A year ago, it was announced that director Wes Anderson had signed on to helm a live-action adaptation of the popular anime series, Isle of Dogs. The project will mark the first live-action Anderson movie since 2012’s The Grand Budapest Hotel, and will star Bryan Cranston, Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton, and Frances McDormand. While we’re still waiting for more information on the film, we do know that the story follows a disgraced ex-cop who sets out to rebuild his life in a city dominated by dogs. Unfortunately for the man, his plans don’t always go as smoothly as he would like, and he has to deal with a number of bizarre incidents that involve canines.

Perhaps the most intriguing aspect of Isle of Dogs is that it will mark the first time that director Wes Anderson has adapted an anime series for the big screen. If you’re a fan of Anderson’s earlier work, such as the Grand Budapest Hotel or his frequent parodies of classic films (he’s the genius behind the cinematic satire, The Grand Budapest Hotel Review), then this is one project to keep an eye out for this coming winter holiday season.

Mullets & Mental Health

In December 2017, it was announced that comedian Chris Rock was set to direct and star in a comedy film that explores the stressors that come with being a black man in America in 2018. The film, Mullets & Mental Health, will follow the titular characters, who take on the issues of being black and male in modern America. It will mark the directorial debut of the comedian, who is best known for his Netflix specials, including: Do You Remember the First Time? and Why Are Blacks in Prison?

The film also stars Tiffany Haddish, Tracy Letts, Marisa Tomei, and Rosie Perez. It will be released in theaters by Lionsgate on December 27th, and will be available on Netflix from December 31st.

Widows

Widows is one of the most anticipated films of the upcoming year, and it’s not hard to see why. Not only is it directed by one of cinema’s most acclaimed directors, Steve McQueen, but it also stars the acclaimed British actress, Eleanor Dowling. In addition to McQueen and Dowling, the movie also features some of British cinema’s finest, including Nicola Walker, Liam Neeson, and Bernard Hatton. Due to its array of prestigious talent, the movie reportedly cost around $15 million to make.

The setting of the film is contemporary London, and follows a diverse group of women as they cope with the hardships of widowhood.
