In 2018, she starred in the critically acclaimed flick, The Heartless You, which was nominated for four Academy Awards, including best picture. Despite being a romantic comedy, The Wedding Guest received poor reviews, which is a shame because it’s such a unique property. We can’t help but wonder what would’ve happened if the film had been written and directed by Adam’s husband, Jim Carrey. We would’ve laughed so hard we cried, just like we did when Adams first walked down the aisle.
While Adams may be getting the girl in the end, it’ll be interesting to see what role she plays next. We can’t help but wonder if she’ll ever go back to rom-coms, given how much she enjoyed her time in the spotlight this year.
Zoe Saldana
We have to admit – we were a bit skeptical about Zoe Saldana when she first came on the scene. After all, she doesn’t exactly have a reputation as one of the most reliable actresses. But she has a lot to offer, and we think she’ll surprise us. In 2019 alone, she starred in three amazing romantic comedies: Just Friends, Going In Style, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. In every role, she portrays a girl who meets a guy and wants to pursue a romance with him. Despite the comedy elements, every scene is completely captivating. Most recently, she starred alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway in The King, which is a fictionalized account of the last years of the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. It seems like romance has found its way back into Saldana’s acting repertoire as well. In 2019, she shared a scene with Jason Bateman in the comedy, Bad Boys For Life. It seems like the gorgeous actress is constantly in demand, and we can’t blame her. Not only is she gorgeous, but she also has a knack for playing the romantic lead.
