It’s fair to say that we were obsessed with Prince Harry’s wedding when it happened — and not just because we were all keen to see Lady Catherine fall in love and marry the man she called her “savior.” The wedding was one of the biggest events of the year, with lots of media attention and an unforgettable ceremony.

And after the wedding, the world kept on turning — and turning…

It was in April that we learned that Prince Harry had become the Duke of Sussex, and in June that American actress Meghan Markle became the Duchess of Sussex.

With the new duchess set to become Queen Meghan — or Queen Elizabeth II if she remains unmarried — it’s time for another round of estate sales!

This time, the focus is on the Duchess of Sussex and her glamorous style — and we can bet that she’ll be selling plenty of gowns and other stylish items to help fund her new lifestyle.

What Will The Duchess Wear?

Although it was widely reported that she’d wear a pale blue dress made by designers Alber Elbaz and Isabel Marant, the Duchess of Sussex didn’t necessarily confirm those rumors.

In an interview with U.K. newspaper The Times, she admitted that she had looked into renting a wedding dress, but decided against it because she felt like she owned so many amazing dresses already. But while we doubt that she’ll rent another, it seems that she’s already decided to sell plenty of her garments.

Will she keep the custom-made dress that she wore for the wedding? We don’t know — but we bet that she’ll be keeping lots of lovely souvenirs.

Where Will She Sell These Gowns?

It was originally speculated by celebrities news site TMZ that the Duchess of Sussex would sell her garments at Burlington Arcade in London’s Piccadilly Circus, but in an interview with The Telegraph, the Duchess said that she and her husband would prefer to keep the pieces and make them part of their collection.

Burlington Arcade is a famous shopping mall on the edge of the Circus, behind the Regent Street Starbucks. The mall is named after WilliamBurlington, the 4th Earl of Burlington who was inspired to build it after he saw the London street market in operation. Although the mall is located in central London, it is sometimes referred to as ‘country shopping’ due to its rural location on a bustling street.

But that doesn’t mean that the Duchess of Sussex will only be selling high-end luxury goods. In fact, she seems to have a soft spot for affordable clothing as well. When asked by The Telegraph if she’d consider selling her wedding dress for charity, she replied: “Yes, as long as someone wants to buy it, I’ll consider it. It doesn’t have to be perfect.”

The Most Expensive Gowns

It’s fair to say that we couldn’t get enough of the royal wedding and its gorgeous dresses — and not just because we all wanted to see Lady Catherine fall in love and marry the man she called her “savior.” The wedding was one of the biggest events of the year, with lots of media attention and an unforgettable ceremony.

But one designer stood out in particular because of their breathtaking creations. At the time, we weren’t exactly sure how much the dresses would cost — but now that we know that they sold for up to £12,000, we’d rank them among the most expensive gowns of all time.

The designer behind the magical gowns was Dior. According to The Telegraph, the luxury goods company had originally hoped to charge £350,000 for the wedding dress designed by Marc Bouwer — and we can’t blame them for wanting to charge that much. We’re sure that the gown would sell for that price today.

Although the designer didn’t reveal the exact cost of each dress, they did confirm that there were a “handful” of dresses that would go up in price, because of their intricate and unique designs. Interestingly, although the wedding dress was an incredible creation, it wasn’t the most expensive item sold at the estate sale. That honor goes to an engagement ring designed by Van Cleef & Harry Potter’s Ron Weasley.

Other Costly Pieces

It’s hard to put into words the effect that Meghan’s wedding had on people — celebrities and everyday citizens alike. It was arguably the most exciting event of the year, and we can bet that Meghan and Harry’s glamorous styles were a key part of that. In an interview with U.K. newspaper The Times, Meghan said that she’d wanted to keep her hair simple and “to keep the focus on the dress,” choosing a sleek up-do that she later unfixed.

We can see why she might have chosen this look. When the dress was first announced, numerous stylists had predicted that it would be one of the best-selling items at the wedding. Even now, it seems that people are still making the same prediction.

Aside from the wedding dress, Meghan also chose to sell a selection of Harry’s shirts. According to The Telegraph, the Duchess’ clothing collection included a number of Harry’s shirts and ties — some of which are now quite valuable. She also chose to sell some of the prince’s hand-me-down jeans, as well as his leather jackets and waistcoats.

It was also speculated that Meghan would sell the wedding cake, which she served at the ceremony. Although it’s a shame that they can’t all be sold to raise money for good causes, it seems that the baker behind the incredible cupcakes stood out in particular because of their ornamental design. We can’t recall ever seeing a cake that looked like that before!

The Most Expensive Accessories

It’s fair to say that we couldn’t get enough of the royal wedding and its gorgeous dresses — and not just because we all wanted to see Lady Catherine fall in love and marry the man she called her “savior.” The wedding was one of the biggest events of the year, with lots of media attention and an unforgettable ceremony.

But one accessory really stood out in particular because of its timeless glamour. At the time, we weren’t exactly sure how much the accessory would cost — but now that we know that it was made famous by Lady Sarah McCalla in the 1980s, we’d rank it among the most expensive pieces of jewellery of all time.

The designer behind the legendary piece is Van Cleef & Harry Potter’s Ron Weasley. It was originally thought that the piece would cost between £2,000 and £3,000. And even now, more than 30 years later, it seems that people are still willing to pay that much for a copy.

It seems that Meghan has a soft spot for accessories and other pieces that can be easily priced and sold. When The Telegraph asked about the most expensive item at the estate sale, she simply replied: “All of them. Accessories, too.”

So it seems that the Duchess of Sussex won’t just be focused on selling gowns. It seems that she’ll be doing a lot of shopping too.
