There is no denying that Robert Pattinson is one of the most in-demand celebrity chefs in the world. In fact, his Instagram account currently boasts over 11.7 million followers and he’s been listed on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list three years in a row.

His culinary career started very early. At just 12 years old, he became the youngest winner ever of the prestigious Young Chef Stars international culinary competition. Since then he’s gone on to win several other awards in regional competitions around Europe, including the prestigious Roux Scholarship in France. In March of this year he released his first cookbook, ‘The Garden of Secrets’ (Hardcover). In it he shares the recipes for the plant-based dishes that he enjoyed developing while traveling around the world.

But did you know that he has a very interesting and unique story? Not content to simply follow in the footsteps of his famous father, William, who is also a chef, he instead chose to pursue a unique path and became an accomplished chef all on his own, independent from his father?

While we’re aware that chefs can be very selective with the guests that they cook for, we think it’s safe to assume that Pattinson isn’t exactly inviting his fans over for dinner every night. So, with this in mind, we decided to dig a little deeper and see what we could find out about his personal life and how he became the successful professional that he is today. Here’s what we uncovered.

How To Become A Chef

Before he could even think about pursuing a career in the culinary arts, Pattinson had to complete a formal training program. This proved to be a difficult task, especially since he was only 16 years old when he began his studies. He initially went to the University of Leeds in England to study business, but after two years he decided to transfer to the nearby Kent College, where he could complete his culinary education. This was in 2011, which was the same year that he won the Young Chef Stars competition. From there, he went on to study at the prestigious Cordon Bleu culinary school in London, where he graduated with honors.

If you’re planning on following in his footsteps and you’re interested in pursuing a career in the culinary arts, then it’s worth noting that there are several different routes that you can take. You can either start your studies in an adult education program at a community college or university, or you can complete a business degree first and then go on to study culinary arts. The decision you make will depend on your own personal circumstances and what you hope to achieve with your career. If you’re already 16 years old then the latter option might be a better fit as you won’t have to wait until you’re 18 to start your studies. At the very least, it’s worth bearing in mind that you’ll have to complete several years of formal training before you can even think about taking any kind of job in a professional kitchen. And if you’re interested in pursuing a solo culinary career, then the choice of where you study is definitely important as you don’t want to go to a university that doesn’t offer culinary courses.

A Bit Of Personality

For someone who spent his teenage years traveling the world and being driven by his passions, it’s no surprise that becoming a chef is such an intrinsic part of his identity. He often speaks about his desire to become the best possible version of himself, which is perhaps why he’s spent so much time and effort perfecting his craft. While he’s devoted to creating world-class dishes, he also understands the need for balance and how to ensure that his life remains fun and exciting. This is why he often shares health-conscious meals and dishes that he created with macrobiotic, vegetarian and vegan options.

In fact, when he was just 14 years old, he started a vegetarian lifestyle blog that he referred to as “The Bacon Chronicles.” On it he documented his progress as he tried out new recipes and experimented with different cooking methods, often giving his own personal thoughts on health and the environment along with his culinary creations. He still regularly posts on this blog today and it’s clear that he continues to find inspiration from his own journey. Similarly, he’s always looking for new ways to incorporate the flavors that he learns about while traveling the world into his cooking. This is evident in his restaurants and eateries, many of which feature dishes that reflect his experiences in other countries.

A Passion For Traveling

As a child, Robert enjoyed spending summers with his family in France, where they owned a villa in the country. It was there that he first developed an interest in French cuisine and fell in love with the country. Since then he’s visited it several times and become a popular visitor to the country, enjoying touring its beautiful French Riviera and sampling the local cuisine. He also frequently hosts foodie tours to French-speaking countries, where he can share his knowledge with other enthusiasts and enjoy some of the finest food in the world.

Traveling is such an important part of his identity. He regularly posts about his upcoming travels and the exciting recipes that he’s planning to share with his followers. In fact, he’s created a cookbook that he updates with new recipes as he finds them. It’s clear that he derives immense pleasure from making others happy through his culinary creations and travels. This is why he frequently refers to his fans and those who follow him as “guests,” because he truly enjoys spoiling them with his culinary delights. He regularly posts about the fun times that he has with his family and crew as well, showing that he enjoys creating a memorable and joy-filled experience for those around him. It’s also clear that he feels incredibly lucky to have been given the talent and opportunity to pursue his dreams, whatever they may be. He clearly has a lot to be grateful for and his determination to succeed is inspiring.

A Steely Will And A Creative Mind

As a young professional, his determination and passion for cooking have served him exceptionally well. In his 20s he began setting up corporate catering events and hiredaging his way through various life challenges. He credits much of his success to his creative mind and his willingness to constantly evolve and refine his techniques. This is exemplified by the fact that he has several different culinary schools and training programs under his belt and he continues to learn and develop new skills and recipes, frequently taking on apprentices and helping them to reach their full potential.

He wasn’t always a driven and ambitious person. At one point he considered himself lucky just to be making a living wage as a supermarket dishwasher. But then something changed in him, giving him the push he needed to succeed in life. He began setting up corporate catering events and hiredaging his way through various life challenges. He credits much of his success to his creative mind and his willingness to constantly evolve and refine his techniques.
