If you follow a certain circle of influencers on TikTok, you might have already heard about the newest Unruly collection by Robert Pattinson.
The collection, which is part of Unruly Clothing’s summer 2020 line, features swimsuits and underwear designed in a bold print against a white background. The underwear is cut in a high-waisted style with a low-waisted option that follows suit.
The high-waisted option is made in a matte black Lycra and the low-waisted ones are made in a shiny bright pink Lycra. The swimsuits are designed in a tie-waist style with an empire line. When it comes to fitting, the line offers a variety of options for those who are looking for that perfect match. For example, the high-waisted briefs come in XS-L and they fit true to size.
The new line was influenced by the actor’s visit to Marrakesh, Morocco, last year, where he spent time with the friendly locals and learned about their unique way of dressing. According to the brand, the collection was inspired by the colors, pattern, and texture of traditional Moroccan clothing.
We spoke with Brandi Kassar about the collection and her thoughts on why the line is so special.
The Print Is Stunning
When it comes to fashion, striking imagery is what catches our attention first, but when we learn more about the designer’s inspiration, the prints suddenly come alive.
Kassar, the creative director of Unruly Clothing, confirmed that yes, the prints are what make this collection so unique. She said the following:
“The prints are the thing that makes this collection so special,” she said. “I designed the prints with a traditional Moroccan mint tea caravan in mind. I wanted to create something that was very vivid, something that you would remember after seeing it once. So I used a mix of hues of blue, orange, and purple with the addition of some yellow for the sun, creating a stunning image on the skin.”
It’s About Time
Kassar designed the collection with the curvy girl in mind. She explains that given the current climate, it’s more important than ever to have a line that represents how she feels. She also hopes that the new line will help her fellow women feel more comfortable in their bodies. We could not agree more. As humans, we’re more attracted to bold imagery that makes us feel something. When that something is an improvement in our physical well-being, we’re all the more convinced to give it a try.
It’s about time that manufacturers made undergarments that suit women with curves. Too often, brands create clothing that is figure-hugging, almost to the point of being dangerous.
