On Nov. 22, Robert Pattinson took to social media to share some exciting news. The 29-year-old actor and producer finally had a successful session with a professional photographer, which means he’s back in the game. It has been over a year since he suffered a severe accident where he shot his right hand with a crossbow. While the injury didn’t prevent him from working, it did keep him away from the camera for quite some time. In an effort to get back in shape, he started working out again and trying different food choices, which resulted in him losing a lot of weight. Now that he’s had some time off, he’s ready to get back to work and show off his toned physique and strong hand. Keep reading for more information about this exciting announcement.

Why Has It Taken So Long To Get Back In Shape?

Since 2011, the “Dark Shadows” actor has been undergoing physical therapy sessions three times a week to slowly regain the use of his injured arm. In the beginning, he had some trouble performing the exercises due to his heavy sedation from the pain medication he was taking. Once he started to come off of his medication, the sessions became much more enjoyable and less intrusive. Even though he was looking forward to finishing his course of therapy and being able to fully move his arm again, the injury didn’t exactly work out the way he’d anticipated. He ended up having to extend his time away from the camera well past what he’d initially planned.

What Is Robert Pattinson’s Injury History?

Pattinson has had a pretty busy schedule over the past few years. Since his breakout role in “Breaking Dawn,” the actor has appeared in multiple high-profile projects, including “Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2,” “Water for Elephants” and “The Ghost Writer.” As a member of the “twilight” cast, he spent over a year filming the four “Twilight” movies in Vancouver, Canada. While the experience was an incredible opportunity, it also meant a lot of downtime for the actor as he gained 40 pounds while filming. For his part, he’s always said that he prefers to spend his time off working out and trying new things rather than hanging out with his fellow “twilight” cast members.

In Feb. 2018, Pattinson suffered a serious accident where he was injured by a crossbow. While it wasn’t his intention to hurt himself, the actor was in a self-defense mode after a taunting incident involving a wolf pack. During a routine trip to a shooting site in Germany, he was walking in the woods when he came across a wolf pack. Without thinking, he pulled out his crossbow and shot one of the animals. However, the weapon was connected to his arm and he’d accidentally shot himself in the process. The accident left him with a compound fracture of the humerus, which means there were no bones left unscathed. It’s a complete break of the upper arm, which required extensive surgery to repair. After months of physical therapy and healing, he was finally able to begin making progress and was able to extend his timeline for returning to work. In the years since the accident, Pattinson has revealed that he still suffers from pain every day and has trouble sleeping at night because of the discomfort he experiences. For the first time in a long time, the actor is looking forward to getting back in shape and getting back to work. Let’s hope this time around things go much more smoothly.

Has He Been Inspired By His Accident?

While shooting his upcoming drama “Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” the actor revealed that he was inspired by his accident to write a piece for Vogue about embracing your “inner child.” In the article, he speaks about how difficult it was for him to watch his arm deteriorating and how he eventually learned to “cherish the little things” in life. “I realized how much joy there was in being happy even in the midst of pain,” he said. He goes on to say that he was able to learn a lot about himself and become a better person thanks to the tragedy. Keep reading for more information about this inspirational article.

When Will We See Robert Pattinson Onscreen Again?

After a long break, it seems like Pattinson has finally found a way to channel all of that pent-up energy into productive endeavors. Since the “Eclipse” premiere, the actor has been hard at work trying to put the pieces back together. He had several small guest appearances before his injury and has mostly stayed away from the spotlight since then, but now that he’s able to work again, he’s looking to make a big comeback. He’s currently filming the psychological thriller “Machete Kills,” in which he plays a retired police officer who gets caught up in a dangerous game when he goes to Mexico to investigate his ex-partner’s murder. In an effort to stay relevant, he’s also attached to two more upcoming films: “The Lighthouse” and “Jojo Rabbit.” While he may have a packed schedule, he did find time to appear on “The Graham Norton Show” to promote his work and discuss his experience returning to work.

What Does His Injury Mean For “Twilight”?

Aside from Pattinson, the “Twilight” franchise also stars Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner. Since the accident that injured Robert Pattinson, the three have largely maintained a professional relationship, even though they’re no longer working together. While Lautner and Stewart have been relatively quiet about Pattinson’s injury, the “Twilight” co-stars have spoken out about how the injury altered their perception of the franchise. For Stewart, it was a humbling experience, as she learned to appreciate how her fans felt about her even when she couldn’t participate in certain activities due to her arm being hurt. For the past year, Stewart has mostly stayed away from the spotlight, which means she didn’t have any public appearances where she could discuss what happened. In one of the few interviews she’s done since the accident, the “Twilight” co-star spoke about how hard it was to watch the fandom rally around her friend and colleague even when she couldn’t physically embrace them. “I didn’t want to be a gatekeeper,” she said. “When we first heard the news, my heart broke for him. I still care about him deeply, as he was one of my dearest friends. But I didn’t want to hold back the love and support that his fans had for him. That’s not my place. I don’t get to dictate how people feel about my work. That’s up to them.”

As for Lautner, he mostly kept his thoughts to himself about the accident, which is a bit of a shame, as he has a huge fan base of his own that would’ve liked to have heard how he was feeling. In one of the few interviews he did after the accident, Lautner revealed that he was having a tough time dealing with the unexpected public attention that came with the accident. He said that he wasn’t prepared for the level of fame that came with playing a central part in what is arguably the biggest movie franchise of all time. In the end, he managed to keep his cool and even had some fun with the whole thing, such as when he collaborated with Stewart on an artwork exhibition featuring some of their favorite “Twilight” characters. In the years since the accident, Lautner has mostly stayed away from the public eye, which means he hasn’t had much to celebrate, other than the fact that he’s been able to keep working.

Despite their various injuries, the “Twilight” co-stars still love spending time together and maintaining a strong friendship. As for Pattinson himself, he’s been keeping a low profile since the accident, so it will be interesting to see what kind of projects he ends up taking on in the coming years. Despite the odds being stacked against him, he’s finally found a way to channel all of that restless energy into something good and the “Twilight” fans will surely be happy to have him back. As for Stewart and Lautner, they too are looking forward to having their friend back and showing him how much they still care. Hopefully, this time around things will go much more smoothly and they’ll be able to put the past year behind them and move forward together as a friend and colleague once more.
