Is it really that time of the month already? While we’re eagerly counting down to the release of the latest Twilight installment, we decided to take a moment to remember the darker sides to the Twilight franchise. Is it really worth it to fall in love with Edward Cullen, a.k.a. Robert Pattinson? Before you answer that, let’s take a stroll down memory lane and reflect on some of the scary stories that have come from the world of Twilight.
Scared Off Stalker: Vampires And Werewolves
There’s no denying that Robsten is one of the most in-demand leading men in Hollywood. The Twilight series has been a huge success, and Pattinson has starred in a number of films since then. If that weren’t enough, he also became the face of Ralph Lauren’s men’s clothing line. So it’s only natural that women want to step into the spotlight and be the center of attention. Is it any wonder why his ex-girlfriends Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner have formed a protection group for female Twihards?
“When [Twilight] first came out, stalkers would follow me around, trying to get a reaction out of me. It was terrifying,” Stewart recently told Wonderland magazine. “After that, I wouldn’t go anywhere without an entourage, and I don’t mean like the security guards that guard [the house of Twilight stars]. I mean a real security team.”
Even the most diehard fans of Twilight have to admit that the storyline with the vampires and werewolves is pretty scary stuff. After all, we’re pretty sure that we’re not meant to identify with these creatures of the night. Most of us aren’t even sure that we want to be like them. What sort of relationship do we have with the creatures of the dark? Are they our friends or our enemies?
While we’re not sure exactly what to make of the Twilight villains, we do know that they’re not exactly what they seem. When the creatures of the night start popping up in the most unexpected places, it’s time to start asking questions.
Is It Worth Loving A Monster?
Of course, not all of the characters in Twilight are bad. In fact, there are a lot of positive messages in the series, and it’s not hard to see why. Not only does Edward serve as a role model, offering a positive view of a happy, healthy marriage, but he also saves the day many times throughout the series. He’s not just some pretty face that we’re meant to cheer for; he’s a hero like any other.
So, what’s the downside of loving a monster? It’s worth asking. The bad guys aren’t just the creatures of the night that we’re afraid of. There are a number of human villians as well, who don’t necessarily deserve our love, or at least not our sympathy. It would be great if the monsters in Twilight could all be good, but that’s probably not going to happen. We have to accept that some of them are bad, and that makes it a little bit easier to separate ourselves from them, knowing that they’re not going to be a part of our lives any more.
