The ‘Dark Knight’ actor has been surrounded by rumors of his infidelities since reports of his $14.5 million wedding back in April.

Pattinson, who reportedly tied the knot with Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart over the summer, was one of the many high-profile men accused of sexual misconduct in the wake of the #MeToo movement.

The British actor came under fire after Daily Mail reporter India Evans tweeted that Pattinson had “used [his] position of power to sexually exploit” multiple women.

Pattinson, who has been plagued by cheating rumors ever since he first arrived in Hollywood, vehemently denied the claims. “I want to make it perfectly clear that I am not a sex addict. I have never been a sex addict,” he said in a statement.

The actor, who turned 29 on Tuesday, also dismissed Evans’ other reporting that he had a history of sexual assault.

“I have never sexually assaulted anyone, and I never would. It’s an old story that just keeps on coming up,” he said. “People seem to have trouble letting go of these allegations and I’m tired of it. I’ve been dealing with this stuff for years and I’ve never been obsessed with sex. Ever.”

The Marriage Announcement

Pattinson, who has a 6-year-old daughter Violet with Stewart, made the surprise announcement about his marriage to Stewart on Instagram on Tuesday. He wrote: “I’ve been a lucky man to have found someone who makes my life complete. We’re proud to announce that we’re going to be married. Thanks for all your well-wishes!”

The couple’s wedding was quickly followed by reports of a pre-nuptial agreement between the ‘Twilight’ stars. According to TMZ, the terms of their pre-nup are ‘fifty-fifty’ — meaning if one spouse dies, the estate is divided equally. Further details about the pre-nup have yet to be disclosed.

A Romantic Night For Pattinson

Pattinson, who has been dating Snow White And The Huntsman actress Emma Frost for several months, made sure to share his romantic night with Stewart on social media.

“I am not at liberty to disclose the location but I can say we were at the Savoy Hotel for the night,” Pattinson said in an Instagram post on Tuesday, alongside a photo of Frost.

The handsome actor, who is in awe of his onscreen counterpart Sir Alec Guinness, looked dashing in a black suit and an open-collar white shirt with a black tie. His hair was slicked back and he had matching white diamond studs in his ears. He signed the photo with the hashtag #RomanticNight and shared a sweet caption, writing: “What more can I say? The most romantic night of my life. Thank you @emmafrost for making it unforgettable. x.”

A History Of Rumors

Pattinson, who has been romantically linked to numerous stars, including Elizabeth Taylor and Angelina Jolie, has long been plagued by rumors of his infidelities. In 2010, he allegedly had an affair with singer Katy Perry, while in 2015 he was spotted kissing actress Blake Lively on the lips during the Costume Institute Gala at the Met Museum in New York City.

The relationship with Lively, a onetime girlfriend of his Twilight co-star and now fiancée, ended badly in 2017 after he allegedly groped her on a flight from London to Paris. The ‘Giant,’ as Lively has called herself, tweeted about the alleged incident, writing: “Last night I experienced one of the worst nights of my entire life. Robert Pattinson sat next to me on a flight to Paris and groped my waist, put his hands on my thighs, and asked me to sit on his lap. I fought him off with my own strength while screaming at him to stop.”

Tasty Takedown

Pattinson, who was previously married to FKA Twigs from 2014-2017, took matters into his own hands after Evans’ claims about his sexual misconduct went public. The first to respond was none other than his ‘Dark Knight’ co-star Joseph Gordon-Leavitt.

“I want to give a big, fat, sloppy kiss to @RobPattinson for owning up to what he truly is: a predator,” Gordon-Leavitt wrote on Instagram, alongside a photo of himself kissing Pattinson on the cheeks. “You did the right thing. It’s only a matter of time before the other shoe drops. We need to protect the women. Let’s not forget about them. Let’s #metoo (hashtag) him.”

Pattinson, who has more than 22 million followers on Instagram, responded to the ‘Dark Knight’ actor by writing: “A predator? Joseph, you’re talking about a person who, at the age of 29, has been a professional in the field of acting for nearly a decade. You don’t just wake up one day and decide you want to be a predator. It takes time to hone your craft, study acting theory, and work on your instincts.”

Gordon-Leavitt wasn’t the only famous face to come to Pattinson’s defense. Many of his beloved Twilight co-stars have rallied behind him, sharing their romantic stories as well as some choice words for Evans.

A Whole Lot Of Supportive Tweets

In support of his position, Pattinson shared a number of sweet messages of support on his Instagram, including ones from his ‘Twilight’ co-stars Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner.

“Thank you for being a wonderful husband and a father. You’re an amazing man,” Stewart wrote. “I stand by you 110%, @RobPattinson,” she said, along with a black-and-white photo of the pair from their time on ‘Twilight.’

Lautner, who plays Pattinson’s brother in the ‘Twilight’ franchise, wrote, “I stand by you, brother. Good on ya for standing up for what’s right.”

While Evans stood by her reporting and tweeted that she was “not convinced” that Pattinson was denying the claims, many other women have come forward to speak out against the actor.

“I am so happy to stand with you and be a witness to your loyalty to women. Thank you for being an incredible partner and husband,” ‘Deadpool’ star Abigail Prada wrote alongside a photo of herself and Evans, before adding, “I love you @RobPattinson, but this is bullshit.”

Pattinson’s sister Rose, a fashion designer, also came to his defense, saying in a statement to PEOPLE, “I think it’s disgraceful that a man of such extraordinary talent and promise should be dragged through the mud like this. The truth is, many men in power are attracted to women who are financially independent and confident. This is simply because they view such women as a challenge, or competition. But what Rose and I know, is that it takes two to tango – and in this case – two to three steps forward. I have no doubts that Robert will prove his innocence, and I know that the allegation will be proven to be false.”

Another alumna of ‘Twilight,’ Jamie Chung, also came to Pattinson’s defense, sharing her own story of alleged harassment by the actor. “I stand by @RobPattinson. I have never been subjected to any form of sexual misconduct,” she said in a statement to PEOPLE. “Additionally, I’ve worked with many powerful men in my career and I can confidently say that no one has ever behaved inappropriately towards me. I believe that these false allegations are yet another attempt by the media to draw out of Rob a story that will never die. As he has proven time and time again, he is a man of high character and integrity, and I know that he will not be seduced by these dubious claims.”
