While the world waits for the release of Pattinson’s latest film, Great Gatsby, the actor is already hard at work on his next project, a mystery film titled Devil’s Triangle. In the meantime, he’s opened up his home in the West Village to film crews from across the globe, allowing them to catch a glimpse of the lavish life he leads as a part of the Hollywood A-listers he’s joined on-set. With so much going on in the actor’s life at the moment, it might be hard for fans to know where to start if they want to follow his adventures. So we’ve put together a list of everything you need to know about this fascinating celebrity!
Devil’s Triangle
Devil’s Triangle is the next project from the Twilight and Gone Baby Gone director David Mackenzie. It tells the story of the mysterious death of a young couple, seemingly at the hands of a serial killer. When the wife’s family struggle to come to terms with her death, they turn to eccentric PI Heather Miller, played by Robert Pattinson, for help. He agrees to take the case, but only on the condition that the family pay for his services. At the same time, he enlists the help of his assistant, Nikki (played by Mia Wasikowska), a charming, street-smart Brooklynite, who has loads of romantic chemistry with the charming English actor. Together, they set out to hunt down the twisted mind behind the killings and bring him to justice.
The film will be released in the United Kingdom on October 12th, 2018 and stars Robert Pattinson, Mia Wasikowska, and Kate Winslet. We don’t have any other information about the project at this time, but given the pedigree of the director and the three main players, we’re sure to hear more about it soon.
Gatsby
One of the most famous faces in the world right now is actor-turned-director-to-be, Joaquin Phoenix. The Italian-American actor is best known for his collaborations with director Martin Scorsese, including the upcoming Netflix film, The White Princess, which is based on the bestselling novel by Ilona Andrews. Scorsese had this to say about Phoenix: “He’s the best actor of his generation. One of the greatest actors who ever lived.””Gatsby” will be released in theaters on May 13th, 2019 and will star Phoenix, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Joel Edgerton. The film is set in the 1920s and follows the story of Nick Carraway, a young man from New York who moves to the prestigious Great Gatsby residence in West Egg, along with his wife, Daisy.
This new adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel will be the sixth collaboration between Scorsese and Phoenix. The director also revealed that he would like to do more work with the actor, saying, “I’d love to do a Scorsese/Phoenix film every couple of years…We could do a crime film or western.”
Other Projects
Aside from the projects mentioned above, Pattinson is also in post-production on two other features. The first is called The Lost City of Petra and was directed by Titus Welliver. The movie is a retelling of the biblical story of Jonah and the whale from the point-of-view of the whale. It stars Pattinson as the title character and Awkwafina (of Nora Eve fame) as his love interest. Welliver had this to say about the film: “Working with Robert was one of the most extraordinary experiences of my career. He’s an amazing actor and a wonderful collaborator. The way he transformed himself for the part was incredible. It was as if Jonah had come back to life! Unfortunately, we were not able to make the movie we had in mind. The studio didn’t see its audience and pulled the plug. I’m still friends with the studio head who agreed to give us a chance and if he hadn’t, we would’ve had to search for a different distributor.”
Pattinson’s other post-production project, Isle of Dogs, will be released next year. The film, which is set for an early 2019 premiere, is an English-language remake of the acclaimed 2012 Japan animated feature, “Kaiju Battle Royale.” The actor is once again teamed up with Wes Anderson for the latest installment in the acclaimed director’s ongoing saga of canine-human conflicts. This time around, it’s the humans who fight to the death against a pack of aggressive dogs. Anderson had this to say about Pattinson’s involvement in the project: “I always knew that I would cast Robert in some way related to dogs…He’s extremely intelligent and observant and has a great sense of humor. We have a blast working together.”
Fans of the Twilight saga will also recognize Pattinson as the handsome, brooding vampire, Edward Cullen. The actor has kept busy since the conclusion of the series in 2012, working steadily and appearing in smaller roles in big budget films like the upcoming Aquaman. He also had a role in the blockbuster, Black Panther, which is one of the highest-grossing films of all time. The actor will next be seen in the fantasy comedy, Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat, which premieres this December.
The 64-year-old Scottish actor has been married to Hollywood starlet, Rebecca Miller, since 1991. The couple have two kids, Joe and Alice. In 2008, they became Global Senior Advisors at Waverly Ventures, a private equity firm.
