It’s been a big week for music fans. Not only did the world get to enjoy Demi Lovato’s triumphant return to the stage, but we got to say farewell to one of the greatest drummers of all time. Ringo Starr died on Monday, March 18, at the age of 88.
It was initially announced in January that the former Beatle had been admitted to a hospital for respiratory problems, and later that he had actually passed away. While some people may be relieved that the world’s most famous drummer didn’t have to endure any more health issues, there’s another group that lost a significant member: the fans of the late Ringo Starr. After all, he was a man whose music you truly knew and loved, and his death left a big void in the world of music.
On Tuesday, the remaining members of the Beatles and members of Starr’s family announced that the rocker had quit drugs several years ago and had been living a clean and happy life ever since. It was also revealed that he had been working on his memoirs, which were set to be published posthumously in April 2021. While the music world may have lost a great artist with the passing of Ringo Starr, his fans can now enjoy his final years knowing that he did so much good in his life.
Now, it’s time for the fans of another former Disney darling to make a comeback, and this time, it’s the entire cast of the “Pulp Fiction” movie on the guest list. On Monday, April 22, 2021, two-time Academy Award winner and “Pulp Fiction” star Bruce Willis and his wife, Emma, welcomed the world’s biggest movie star, Robert Pattinson, and his fiancee, Cosima Nishimoto, to their home for an intimate dinner party. The foursome spent five hours together, laughing, chatting, and sharing stories about their time on the big screen. The resulting coverage was absolutely heartwarming to watch and made us admire Bruce and Emma even more.
With Willis’ experience as an actor and director and his wife’s connection to fashion, it’s no surprise that they hosted such an amazing event. It was a chance to celebrate the end of a memorable and important movie season, and also a wonderful opportunity to show off a new style choice for the female form.
The invite-only event came just days after “Pulp Fiction” hit theaters, and fans had to wait in line for several hours just to get a glimpse of the handsome British actor who plays a major role in the movie. We’d like to think that Bruce and Emma’s invitation helped create enough of a distraction for people to forget about the long wait, as well as the movie itself.
What Is ‘Pulp Fiction’ About?
Although the setting of “Pulp Fiction” may look like another quirky Hollywood film, the story is actually inspired by a real-life crime that took place in Los Angeles in 1993. That year, a gang of four broke into the home of Roger Borden, a wealthy entrepreneur who had just sold his company for $25 million. The criminals robbed him of thousands of dollars in jewelry and got away with several luxury cars, one of which was a yellow Lamborghini. That car, known as the “Getaway Car,” was eventually found abandoned and stripped of its parts.
The main character in the movie, named John “Martha” Marwood, is a private detective who is hired by Borden’s wife, Pam, to find her husband’s lost diamond necklace. While investigating the case, Martha witnesses two other men attempting to steal the same necklace. He gets involved in a shootout with the thieves, eventually losing one of his eyes in the process.
“Pulp Fiction,” which was first shown in the U.S. on May 4, 1994, became one of the most iconic and popular films of all time. It’s now been seen by nearly 14 million people and has received numerous accolades, including the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival. It’s also been listed among the most important movies of the 1990s and one of the best action movies of all time.
Though Marwood’s story may not hold up as much as the latest blockbusters, it’s still one of the most fun and thrilling films ever made. And even those who’ve seen it many times still enjoy it as much as the first time around. Watching it is like falling into a time machine and traveling back to the ‘90s, when everything was new and exciting.
Why Is This Film Special?
For fans of “Pulp Fiction,” it was an opportunity to see some of their favorite characters from the movie, including John “Martha” Marwood and his partner, Vincent Vega (who played a role in the 1989 movie “Grand Theft Auto”).
It wasn’t just a reunion for the fans either. The film stars Bruce Willis, who turned 70 in 2020, and is still going strong. It’s also the last film that he’s going to make with his long-time collaborator, director, and co-writer Quentin Tarantulinu (who turns 60 this year).
Not only that, but the invite-only event gave those in attendance a chance to celebrate the end of a unique and memorable movie season. Once the dust settled from the epic season that was “Pulp Fiction,” things didn’t slow down for Willis and Tarantulinu, who continued to work together on several other projects, including a pair of horror films, “The Devil’s Receptionist” and “Meltdown,” and a comedy, “The Fifth Beatle.”
This year also saw the releases of several films that starred or were directed by Willis, including “The Return of Bruno” and “The Big Bad Wolf.” And in October, it was announced that Willis would be executive producing and starring in the HBO Max television series “The Forty-Eight” alongside Mike Nichols and Jeeva Bliss.
So, not only is “Pulp Fiction” one of the most iconic movies of all time, it’s also one of the most important and well-known films of the ‘90s. And now, as it nears its 20th anniversary, it’s truly a testament to the power of cinema.
