In a recent interview with Total Film, Pattinson revealed that he was terrified when he first found out about the Dark Knight contract, and he still wakes up at night in a cold sweat thinking about it. The actor went on to discuss how he prepared for the role and shared some interesting details about his preparation for Batman. Let’s take a closer look.
Starting Training With Batman Begins
While it’s been four years since The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, it feels like it was just last week when we were talking about Rob Pattinson’s upcoming transformation into the Batman. In fact, the news started breaking earlier this year when the actor tweeted a picture of himself in a grotesque Halloween mask with the caption, “As you can see, I’m getting ready for Batman.” Since then, the Internet has been ablaze with rumors and speculation about what Pattinson’s wardrobe and makeup will look like for the highly anticipated Batman film. While most assume that the actor will be donning a bat-like makeup, it seems that he might go for a completely different take on the Dark Knight. As reported by the Inquisitr in April, according to an interview with Heat Vision, Pattinson might choose to go for an anime/manga-inspired look. The actor didn’t confirm or deny this, but he did say that he was “getting [his] heart broken” trying out several different looks for the role.
The Preparation Process
Even before he landed the role of the Batman in Christopher Nolan’s reboot of the iconic franchise, Pattinson had been making headlines for his stunning transformation into a werewolf. For those unfamiliar, the Australian actor underwent a full-body cast with around 20 gallons of vinyl silicone to transform himself from an attractive young man into a werewolf-like creature. The cast weighed over 50 pounds and covered Pattinson from head to toe, including his facial features, hands, feet, and even his genitalia. Even then, the stunning transformation didn’t come cheap – it reportedly cost $150,000. While the actor was grateful for the opportunity to transform into such an iconic character, he revealed that he still experiences flashbacks to that time in his life and doesn’t enjoy remembering it. He also said that he wouldn’t want to be bound by any limitations when it comes to the role. “I’d like to keep as much freedom as possible within the character,” he said. After the intense preparation process for The Wolf of Wall Street, Pattinson was finally able to relax and resume his normal life. He’s since been keeping a low profile, but we know that he’ll be back in action soon as he starts prepping for Batman.
Fear of Missing Out
In the same interview with Total Film, the 27-year-old actor talked about the pressure he feels to keep up with the times and what it’s like to have dozens of people constantly staring at you while you’re trying to enjoy a private moment. “You just feel like you’re missing out on something. Like, everybody’s talking about this shit right now,” he said. “It’s kind of insane how much pressure there is. You just want to blend in and not be noticed.” As a result, Pattinson tends to keep some of the modern aspects of his life private. “I keep it on the down-low a lot,” he said. “I don’t really want to talk about it.”
According to the actor, he grew up in a very chaotic environment surrounded by children who were always fighting and screaming at the top of their lungs. This had a profound effect on Pattinson, and it’s not surprising that the chaotic environment continued into adulthood. It wasn’t until he hit 30 that he realized he needed to start taking care of himself. “I was always the opposite. I was never a part of a group, never around adults, and certainly not a lot of men my age,” he told Total Film. “I felt like I didn’t belong anywhere. I guess that comes from being so far away from my parents.” He also revealed that he has a lot of “tangled” childhood emotions that he still has to work through. “I’ve never really been able to express myself properly,” he said. “I’ve always turned to humor to explain things, but I think it’s probably been holding me back a bit.” He continued, “I feel like I could have been a whole lot more mature than I am now. People might not even recognize me when I’m 40.”
A New Approach To Acting
Pattinson has taken a completely new approach to acting, and it’s been paying off. Since taking on the role of the Batman, he has received numerous awards and critical acclaim for his portrayal. In the upcoming years, he will continue to shine on the big screen with leading roles in high-profile projects. In a time when most Hollywood stars are afraid to speak out against the Trump administration, it’s refreshing to see an actor taking such a public stand against the status quo. With Trump’s America First policy and the looming specter of climate change, it’s time for Hollywood to step up and lead, and Rob Pattinson certainly seems to be doing his part. Let’s hope that more Hollywood stars will follow suit.
