Just days after starring in his first Cannes Film Festival film, the 30-year-old actor made his grand entrance at the French capital’s premiere of his second project, How Do You Feel?, in a custom-made black tuxedo. The actor’s spokesperson confirmed to E! News that he was indeed wearing a tuxedo, but refused to share any further details about the star’s dress code.

Cannes 2018 Was A Triumphant Return To The Festival

Last year, the British actor and musician withdrew from Cannes to focus on his recovery from alcohol addiction. He made a triumphant return this year, appearing in the premiere of his first film, Cut, on May 12. That same day, he shared a brief video update on his Instagram page, showing him in a chic striped shirt and sunglasses, sporting a tiny baby bump.

After weeks of speculation, the actor finally confirmed his pregnancy on May 23, posting a picture of himself and his wife, FKA Twigs, on a beach with the caption: “We got married @ the amazing Taj Mahal in India. Was such a happy day. Thank you to everyone who came together to make it happen. I love you all.”

A month later, on June 25, Pattinson shared an image taken at the Cannes premiere of his film Twilight, which he co-wrote and produced. In the photo, he can be seen wearing a classic white shirt and black trousers, while carrying an iced drink and a briefcase. The image was followed by the hashtag “#TFW” – an abbreviation for “Twilight Fans.”

The Twilight Saga: The Musical was first performed at the Toronto International Film Festival in March. The show follows Bella, a teen who falls into a magical coma following a bite from a venomous spider. She is then mysteriously transported to a mysterious otherworldly place, where she discovers that her entire life has been a dream. The show is a testament to the transformative power of love.

Meanwhile, the Cosmic Trip actor continued to post teasers for his upcoming projects, including a shot from the edge of a volcano, where he is seen wearing sunglasses and holding a map of the world. The teasers have largely followed a similar formula: a scenic landscape featuring a Hollywood sign or forest, with the sun streaming down through the trees. There is also a noticeable absence of the actor in the photos. Instead, his co-stars and creative collaborators fill the frame, often with captions that play on words from the film’s title.

How Do You Feel?

Pattinson plays James, a college professor recovering from a nervous breakdown. The film opens with the character waking up in a hospital bed. He looks down and sees his reflection in a pool of water, before trying to pull himself up by the bars. Confused and disoriented, he asks for help. A kind nurse tries to explain to him that he’s been in a coma for six months, since the day before his wedding. James was trying to break up with his fiancee, played by Alice Eve, and elope with her best friend, Billie (Taylor Swift). The scene takes place in what appears to be a generic, fluorescent-lit hospital room. From there, the camera slowly pulls back, revealing the lush garden outside the window. During a scene in which James helps a young boy with his homework by reading to him from a children’s book, we learn that his son Tyler (played by Robert Patrick) is actually the boy James has been reading to. The camera remains fixed on the young character as he turns to smile at his father. It’s a sweet moment, before the film cuts to black, and the story resumes. This is the first of two consecutive scenes in the movie that are set in winter, the other one being the wedding scene. There are only a couple of scenes, however, that take place at night, with most of the action taking place during the day. In other words, this is a day-and-night movie, which makes it a bit tricky to follow the time period.

French Cinema’s Grandest Stage

Pattinson will next be seen in the French drama Le Weekend. Directed by Bertrand Bonello, the film centers around a wealthy fashion designer (played by Matthieu Amalric) who, while on the run from the law, decides to enjoy the last days of his life by taking his entourage on a trip to the south of France. Amalric’s character is an enfant terrible who has been known to throw wild parties complete with strippers and MDMA.

Pattinson will then be seen alongside Alicia Vikander in the sci-fi thriller Ex Machina. The film is based on the 1971 novella by Ismail Kadaroglu and follows a billionaire inventor (played by Domhnall Gleeson) who creates a lifelike android named Ava (played by Vikander) as a potential lover and companion. After a series of dangerous close calls, the inventor decides to commit suicide by jumping off a building. However, in a twist at the end, it is revealed that he was the one who had framed her for his murder. The film was shot in Prague and is set for release in theaters in the United States on March 2, 2018.

Before then, the British actor will appear in the upcoming fantasy adventure The King. Directed by Robert Lukas, the film centers around a war waged between humans and orcs, where the protagonist assumes the role of the mighty Leonidas, a legendary warrior who leads the defense of the human kingdom. The film is set for theatrical release in the United States on March 23, 2018.

Beyond The Big Two

Pattinson won praise for his performance in Twilight, and it wasn’t just limited to film. In 2016, he took to the stage, performing musical sets in London and other major cities across the world. In January 2017, he released a solo album, Believe. The collection of dark, electronic pop songs features collaborations with the likes of Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, and Bebe Rexha. In March of that year, he released another single, “Applause,” a duet with Swift. In July, he made his Broadway debut in London’s West End in the musical comedy The Last Night Of Summer. Set in a 1930s Berlin, the show is based on the 2007 Dutch film of the same name and features an opening number in which Pattinson sings and dances with Swift. The song is titled “Sunset Squad,” and will be performed in a medley with “One Last Dance,” a duet with his mother, Kate. The production is the third collaboration between Pattinson and Swift, following 2013’s Somewhere In Between and 2015’s Shake It Off.

Other projects in the works include the Noah Baumbach-directed film Marriage Story, based on the New York Times bestseller by David Levinson, and the drama Paddington 2, set for release in theaters on January 20, 2018. The film will mark the debut of Zac Efron and Anthony Mackie, who will play a married couple. Efron and Mackie previously worked together on Scarecrow, which Efron wrote, directed, and starred in. In addition to acting, the 38-year-old actor is set to produce and direct a series for Apple TV+. Titled Esquire, the program will explore various topics including “fashion, food, travel and romance,” and will be hosted by Jason Crick. The series is expected to launch this fall.

Finally, the British actor is in negotiations to appear in Darren Aronofsky’s upcoming drama Mother!. The film, starring Jennifer Lawrence, is described as “an epic psychological thriller” and is based on the 1970 bestseller by Michael Crichton. Aronofsky is also producing the project, along with partner Ari Handlar, who will co-direct. Lawrence will play the role of a single mother who, after suffering a mental breakdown, kidnaps her young son and brings him back to her hometown, where they live together in a secluded mansion.
