Oscars. What is there not to love?

The Academy Awards are one of the most prestigious events in Hollywood, a night where the best films from the previous year are honored with prestigious awards. This year’s Oscars had a record number of categories with a record number of nominations. There were even a record number of British nominees with 13 individuals being recognized for their incredible work. With so much going on, it’s easy to miss details about some of the other nominees and winners that night. This is especially the case as the after party starts early and goes into the wee small hours of the morning. That’s sleeping beauty for you.

Robert Pattinson’s Best Supporting Actress In A Comedy Film Nomination Brings Back Memories

One of the most talked about Best Supporting Actress nominations this year was that of Robert Pattinson for his role in the movie, Good Time. The movie is based on a Dutch crime drama series, called Lekrom. Or, more specifically, about an unlikely friendship that develops between Rembrandt (Reyma) and Tilia (Lilli) as they try to navigate their way through the city’s criminal underworld. While the concept of Good Time may seem like a departure for Pattinson, it’s a role he’s thoroughly enjoyed taking on. Especially since it means he gets to play against type. Or, in this case, an old type. Good Time is the antithesis of the Twilight star’s usual leading man persona. It is a far cry from Pattinson’s deliciously dark and romantic movie, Burlesque. But it’s a role he’s happy to play.

The Best Supporting Actress award is one of the most prestigious awards given out at the Oscars. It is voted on by the academy’s membership and honors actors and actresses for their performances in supporting roles in either comedic or dramatic films. On the surface, Pattinson’s nomination doesn’t seem like a surprise. After all, he’s in a comedy, playing a supporting role. But, beyond the surface, there is so much more to this story.

Why Did Robert Pattinson Want To Play Rembrandt?

When it comes to celebrity crushes, many people think of Tom Hardy or Leonardo DiCaprio. However, there is another guy who has been silently and patiently waiting for his chance at being featured on screen. And it’s not Donald Trump. That, however, would be pretty cool too.

The beautiful and talented Emma Watson has gone on record about her undying love for Robert Pattinson. So, when he decided to take on the role of Rembrandt in Good Time, Watson was over the moon. She not only gets to watch her favorite actor take on an entirely different persona, but she also gets to see a lot of her own personal feelings and emotions reflected on screen. It’s like a dream come true for Watson.

In an interview with Wonderland Magazine, Watson spoke about how she felt when she first heard about Pattinson’s decision to play Rembrandt saying, “I cried, I was so happy. I didn’t expect it at all. I thought he would play a villain or something…but no, he was such an amazing actor. He completely immersed himself in the role. There were times when we would rehearse and he would be like, ‘I’m really sorry. I have to go. I have to be Rembrandt.’ It was amazing to watch.”

So, for those of you fortunate enough to have never had the pleasure of meeting Pattinson or Watson, here’s your chance. Watch them together on screen as they navigate the criminal underworld of Amsterdam. It’s a beautiful love story and a masterpiece of acting. And don’t forget about Donald Trump at the end either.
