We’ve had an extremely eventful year with the Oscars, and for the most part, it’s been a celebration of female power, incredible performances, and above all, lots of memorable moments. But if you’ve been paying attention, you might have noticed that there was one major glaring omission from this year’s award show. That being, the lack of an all-male acting nominee. Now, it’s not as if there weren’t any great performances from male actors this year. In fact, there have been quite a few. But for whatever reason, the academy decided to snub the male actors, and instead nominated only females.

So here’s the question: What should Robert Pattinson do now that he’s been snubbed by the Academy? And should he even bother with the Oscars at all? After all, he didn’t get a chance to make his acceptance speech because he was cut off at the end by Emma Stone, who won Best Actress.

Well, to be perfectly honest, he doesn’t have to do anything. But he should probably do the following things:

1. Apologize.

It wouldn’t be right for Robert to be upset with the Academy. After all, it is they who decide what gets recognized and what doesn’t. So instead of being upset, he should probably laugh it off and say he’s sorry he didn’t receive any nominations. Doing so would go a long way in repairing the damage, and getting him on the right foot with the Academy once more. Besides, it would be nice for the millions of Twilight fans who were denied the opportunity to see Robert accept his award (and laugh hopefully alongside him at his expense).

2. Compete.

Now, it’s not as if poor ol’ Rob hasn’t been busy this year. In fact, since the start of the year, he’s been appearing in numerous films, including Ex Machina, Bad Genius, and The Lost City of Z.

If he really wants to make up for lost time, he should probably jump back into the race and begin competing for awards. If he’s been keeping up with his appearances, he should have no problem finding work, and he could definitely earn himself some extra nominations. After all, it’s not as if he’s been idle all this time. Bad Rob might even end up finishing one of the top five or six films of the year. And who knows? With the right performance, he might even earn a Best Supporting Actor nomination. Stranger things have happened. The sky is the limit.

3. Focus on Film.

One of the best things about Robert is that he’s such a dedicated actor, and so committed to his craft. Since he’s already established himself as an actor, with an impressive body of work under his belt, he doesn’t need to struggle for recognition. Instead, he can focus on bringing his A-game to each role, and letting the chips fall where they may. He doesn’t need to bother with the Oscars, or any other award for that matter. Focus on what you know best, and let your acting do the talking. Don’t forget: the best performances often come from unexpected places. Maybe this year was unexpected, but in the long run, it will undoubtedly prove to be one of his best career moves.

4. Work On Your Craft.

There’s been a lot of talk this year about the #MeToo movement, and how it’s changed the film industry. Especially regarding the way in which women are portrayed onscreen. So much so, that the academy felt it necessary to make a very public statement about addressing sexual harassment and inappropriate behavior.

While it’s great that the film industry is taking the conversation about sexual harassment and misconduct seriously, it’s absolutely essential that we continue to have these conversations. Especially since so many of us, male and female alike, were denied the chance to witness and participate in these important discussions. It’s never too late to have these conversations, and it’s definitely not something that should be ignored. Which is why, even though he didn’t receive any awards, it’s still important that Robert talks about sexual harassment and misconduct, especially since so many of us, female and male, were denied the chance to see and participate in these important conversations.

5. Continue To Give Back.

Last but not least, let’s not forget about Robert’s incredible work in the community. He’s been giving back to the kids and the teachers of South Africa, through the funding of music instruments and school supplies. He’s also been helping to raise awareness about sexual violence through his charity work with UN Women. So, even though he might not have received any major accolades this year, it’s still important to acknowledge all that he does for others.

On one hand, it’s wonderful that the kids of South Africa have a musician like Rob to look up to. On the other hand, it’s also wonderful that they have someone who’s raised so much awareness about sexual violence. He should be proud of both of these accomplishments. Instead of being upset about not receiving any awards, he should probably be feeling grateful.

So there you have it. Just a few things that Robert Pattinson should do, if he really wants to make up for all that time that he didn’t spend acting. And although it might not seem like it, he’s definitely been busy. So instead of feeling bad about the Academy snubbing him, he should probably feel good about all the work that he’s done this year, and the many opportunities that it has presented. And for that, he should be grateful.
