With the upcoming premiere of the highly anticipated sequel “The Twilight Saga: Stephenie Meyer’s Darkest Ride,” it’s been a tough month for Robert Pattinson fans. The actor who plays the role of Edward Cullen, one of the series’ iconic characters, didn’t appear at the premiere in London on April 25, and many are wondering if he’ll ever return to the franchise.
The Actor Is Going Through An Adjustment Period
For those unfamiliar, Edward Cullen is a gorgeous and popular young man who meets and falls in love with a human woman named Bella (portrayed by Kristen Stewart). Together, they have two children named Alice and Emmett. While Bella’s human parents are supportive of her relationship with Edward, she is less fortunate in regard to her vampire parents, who disapprove of the couple’s relationship and want her to marry a descendant of the infamous Volturi family. The series follows Bella’s desperate attempts to find a way to make her family and friends approve of her relationship with Edward.
Pattinson On Why He’s Not Returning To The Series:
“Twilight” is a really special franchise to me. I’ve been fortunate enough to have worked with some incredible people and we’ve made some amazing memories together on this film. But while I would love to continue working on these stories, right now I need a break. I need to take a step back and find a place where I can be alone with my family and friends. I need some time to recharge, to read a book and go for a walk. I want to be able to look at this franchise with a fresh set of eyes and see it for the work of art that it is.
Why The Series Still Means So Much To Him
Even after all this time, the first two films in the “Twilight” series still hold a special place in Robert Pattinson’s heart. He first got involved with the franchise as an 18-year-old, before going on to appear in all five films. At the time, he was on the hunt for a big break and the role of Edward Cullen seemed like a perfect fit. He saw it as a chance to show the world his acting talents, but he also saw it as a way to continue working with Twilight author Stephenie Meyer, whom he had become infatuated with. He famously told the press at the time, “For a 17-year-old, it’s a great role. Edward is a very complex character, full of contradictions — he’s handsome, yet he’s got this really dark side.”
He Hasn’t Finished Thinking About It Yet
It’s been a tough decision for Pattinson to say goodbye to “Twilight,” but it’s one he’s coming to terms with. While he would love to continue working with the franchise, he recognizes that his place in it is now at an end. He’s not ready to commit to appearing in any more films just yet — not after what he’s been through recently. With the departure of his longtime manager and “Twilight” co-star, Taylor Lautner, it’s been a difficult time for the actor. Just three weeks ago, he split from his long-term girlfriend, the fashion model and celebrity chef Victoria Beckham. As a result of the break-up, he’s had to deal with a lot of backlash from the public, who accused him of being disloyal and not caring enough about his career. He’s also had to step up his game in terms of protecting his image — with all the paparazzi cameras following him around every corner — and he’s made it known that he won’t be revealing too much about his personal life. In fact, he’s even gone as far as deleting all of his social media accounts in the process.
Pattinson’s Final Thoughts
I hope that everyone who’s read this far has enjoyed this brief history of “Twilight” and had some fun looking into the future of one of cinema’s most iconic characters. I’d like to thank everyone who’s supported me throughout the years on this crazy journey. I love you all and I’ll see you on the other side.
