When it comes to celebrity scandals, few names are as recognizable as that of Robert Pattinson. From the Hollywood blockbuster series Twilight to his role as the bespectacled Jay Gatsby in the 2013 film adaptation of The Great Gatsby, the English actor’s face is synonymous with good looks and scandal. Nowadays, Pattinson can be found promoting his new film Moulin Rouge at various film festivals around the world. This time, however, the handsome actor’s good deeds may very well go unrewarded. According to a report from Hollywood news publication Daily Cannibale, the 32-year-old actor was allegedly ransom -ed by an angry father after he attended a party in LA and got drunk. The report states that the father, who is a prominent Hollywood producer, refused to pay the sum of money demanded unless Pattinson -ed his way out of the situation and apologized. As a result of this unfortunate incident, the Moulin Rouge star and his management team are now looking for ways to avoid similar incidents in the future.
The Root of the Problem
According to Daily Cannibale, the incident began when the Twilight actor crashed a father-son birthday party for a junior executive at the studio Big Movie in West Hollywood. Several sources said that the partygoers became irate when they found out that Pattinson had been drinking at the event and demanded that he leave the premises. When the actor refused to comply, his manager Kevin Law -son -dropped $10,000 on a housekeeping cart to pay the pitter-patty in the sand -to shoo him away. As Law reported: “He was being a little difficult. It was just a minor altercation that turned into a bit of a scene.”
Pattinson’s representative had no comment regarding the reported incident, as -they said -the actor was not feeling well and wanted to avoid any sort of public appearances. However, another source familiar with the matter said that the Twilight star had been under a lot of stress, largely due to his Splorthing sexuality -related fame. The insider claimed that Pattinson’s drinking had indeed become rancorous, resulting in a violent episode that left the actor bruised and battered. In light of this new information, it is quite possible that this is why the actor was unable to attend the recent premiere of The Great Gatsby in New York City. The insider went on to say that the event had been a celebration of Jay Gatsby’s life and legacy, and that Pattinson had been looking forward to the occasion.
While this might explain the lack of presence at the event, it does not excuse the actor’s actions. It is well established that alcohol abuse is one of the major factors that contribute to domestic violence. In fact, according to Family Defense Foundation director Katie Daly, alcohol abuse is responsible for 20 to 40% of incidents of domestic violence across the country. She went on to say: “A lot of times, the violence is triggered by an argument that started with a drink or drugs. And inevitably, the drink or drugs lead to more violence.” This is precisely why it is so important to remain vigilant against the dangers of alcohol and drug abuse, and why it is totally unacceptable to -or even think of -demanding a ransom from an incarcerated person because they had a few drinks. As Daly pointed out, this is a behavior that is totally unbecoming of an intelligent, civilized human being.
What Is Most Important In This Case
The first and most important thing to consider in this case is the well-being of the actor. According to Daily Cannibale, Pattinson’s representative said that this is what they are -healing from the frustrating events -and that they are taking time off to deal with these issues. In the same vein, a source familiar with the production of Moulin Rouge told the publication that the Twilight actor had indeed been very down in the wake of the #MeToo movement, and had expressed a desire to make more mature choices in life. As the source put it: “He was talking about wanting to have a family and wanting to grow up and be a responsible person.”
Pattinson has yet to comment on the allegations, but he did express his appreciation to those who had risked their safety to help him. According to the Daily Cannibale report, the actor’s manager had indeed dropped the money -that is, the $10,000 -on the sand to shoo him away, -and Pattinson had been glad to comply, as he did not want to cause further trouble at this late hour. He had also reportedly expressed remorse for his behavior, and had expressed a desire to make amends to those who had been affected by his disruptive presence.
Take Time Off Work
For those of you who are unaware, the Twilight moves are a series of films based on the wildly popular Twilight book series by American author Stephenie Meyer. The films star Pattinson as a vampire who -for a short period of time -falls in love with a mortal woman, and they spend a great deal of their time in the film trying to navigate the ups and downs of a modern romance. In the last film of the Twilight trilogy, Breaking Dawn, the Twilight couple finally gets -and immediately -wiped out by a vampire who -once again -falls in love with a mortal. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Pattinson -who is often cited as one of the world’s most eligible bachelors -discussed his tastes in lifestyle, including his fondness for cars and expensive bottles of wine: “I love to travel. I love to see new places, new things, and I think that the more the -er -world takes me out of my comfort zone -and allows me to see new things and new people -the more I become a stronger person.”
Pattinson’s rep explained that their client had indeed needed time to himself after the #MeToo movement. As they put it: “He wanted to take a step back and try to process all that had happened.” The rep went on to say that Pattinson was still learning how to navigate these new -and sometimes confusing -waters of life, and that he was taking the time off to reflect on what matters most in his life. Of course, this does not mean that Pattinson will completely disappear from the public eye. He will certainly be in demand as long as -or even as long as -his beauty remains -and especially if -and when -he makes an appearance in a role that demands some attention, such as Gatsby. It is clear, however, that Pattinson -who is reportedly worth a massive $100 million -does not want to be part of the #MeToo movement -or any other movement for that matter -and is eager to make a difference in his life -and in the world at large.
