It’s easy to get distracted by the paparazzi when you’re a celebrity. But for actor Robert Pattinson, his days as a tabloid heart throb are over. Following his relationship with actress Kate Winslet, he’s focused on his next project, the fantasy adventure The Lost City of Z. This year he’s set to make his Broadway debut in The Ferryman. On the big screen, he’s appeared in the X-Men franchise and Twilight. His latest film, Snow White and the Huntsman, just premiered at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival. We had the chance to sat down with him to discuss his 2014 and what’s in store for the future.
How’s 2014 shaping up?
It’s shaping up to be a very special year for me. I’ve just finished my first feature film, and it’s been received with incredible praise. Plus, I’ve just signed on to play the lead in a Broadway musical. It’s been a very busy year, but a rewarding one.
How does this year’s film, The Lost City of Z, fit in with your career?
The Lost City of Z is a fantasy adventure film that I shot last year in Iceland. It was a real treat to be able to film there. The landscape is such a contrast to the bright lights of Los Angeles. Plus, the weather was amazing! We were able to film all year round, even in the winter. It’s always cold in Iceland, but in a very cinematic cold. We were only filming during the day, so at night it got a little chilly. But the dark kept us warm.

What can we expect from you in the future?
Well, I’ve always said that I’m a bit of a jack of all trades, so I guess that’s what you can expect from me. I’m always open to new challenges. I’ve been fortunate enough to have worked with some of the best directors in the business. So, who knows? Perhaps this year I’ll work on a comedy or a musical and finally get to shine in my own right.

I just want to thank my fans for supporting me over the years. I have a wonderful family and a lovely wife by my side. We’re actually looking forward to this year and the new opportunities that it brings.
