There’s always something going on with the Rob family. First it was Maisy and then Elizabeth, but now it’s Robert’s little brother, Carl. The 20-year-old recently shared some fun news about his bro and how they stay in touch. Let’s take a look.
Family Ties
The first question that probably comes to mind when you hear about Carl being in a band is, “Does he have a solo album already?” Unfortunately, the answer is no. But in October 2018, he and his band, the Wailers, dropped their self-titled debut album. The lead single, “Never Seen Anything Like It,” definitely sounds like a solo effort by Rob’s little brother. We’re definitely hearing his distinct voice here. But when the song plays, we can’t help but think of Rob’s epic vocals. It’s almost as if the two are trading off on the track.
The brothers have always been close, which is evident by the fact that they’re both in bands. But it seems like they’ve become even closer since Carl started his own band. When we last heard from him, he was saying how much he enjoys performing live. So, it’s probably safe to assume that he’s doing this for fun. But he also seems to have a good time with his brother. If you watch the two of them perform together, you can tell that they have a lot of fun on stage. And what’s more, they seem to have found a common lyrical theme in their songs that they can both work with. For instance, the song “Gimme Shelter” by the Rolling Stones is a firm favorite of theirs.
A Different Look
Apart from being a singer, Carl is also a photographer. In fact, it was his passion for photography that got his into modeling in the first place. Shortly after he turned 18, he moved to New York City to pursue a career in photography. And what a career it must be. In October 2018, he was featured in an article in Interview magazine with the headline, “This Is the Next Big Thing.” The article goes on to list fashion agencies that are looking for new talent. Pretty cool, right? Not only that, but he did his own portfolio for the piece. So, while he’s still relatively new to the modeling world, he’s already making a name for himself. Which is amazing for a 20-year-old. (We wish him all the best.)
Carl’s Big Adventure
You might be wondering where this is going. Hopefully you’re not, because we’re about to get to the good stuff. It turns out that Carl is actually on a bit of a journey. A while back, he was traveling Europe with his guitar and an amplifier. He was playing music and just kind of making it up as he went along. Which is exactly how he likes it. He told his manager, “I don’t want to overthink things. I just want to go with the flow and see where it takes me.” So far it seems like he’s enjoying himself immensely. He has a different attitude about his life than most people his age and is definitely doing things his own way. Even though he’s just started modeling and has a long way to go, we’re sure he’ll become an overnight sensation. Who knows? Maybe he already is. (Just kidding.)
The Future Is Now
While we’re on the subject of music and the blues, let’s not forget about Carl’s other famous brother. One of the most talented musicians to come out of the 1980s, Rob attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston. Afterward, he moved to New York City where he could further pursue his career. He eventually formed his band, the Robert Pattinson Group, with some of his Berklee College of Music classmates. The rest, as they say, is history. (Watch out for their new album, It’s Only Rock ‘n’ Roll, coming out in April 2019.)
It seems like the more time that passes, the more curious we get about the other members of the Rob family. We already knew about Carl and his music. But now that we’re aware of what sort of photographer he is, we’re finding ourselves wanting to know more about his photography. There are already rumors that he’s doing some high-profile family photos for a big-name designer. While we’d love to believe it, we have to admit that we’re not really sure. So, for now, remain curious.
