Robert Pattinson was spotted having dinner with Gala at their shared birthday party in Cannes on April 17, 2019. The actor looked dashing in a black suit and matching black boots as he enjoyed a meal that consisted of Canape Hébergé au foie gras, followed by Scotch fillets, ratatouille, and coffee.
The two were last seen at a private New Year’s Eve party in London in January 2019, where they were surrounded by a bevy of A-list galas. Since then, they have kept a relatively low profile, but have been spotted dining at upscale restaurants in Beverly Hills and London.
The former couple’s dynamic on-screen chemistry led to a series of romantic comedy films, the most recent of which, Post-Pandemic, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last month. The movie is a farce about a romantic comedy writer (Witherspoon) who teams up with an ex-college professor (Moore) to devise a dating service for couples after the pandemic.
Pattinson, whom she co-starred with in 2019’s The Good Liason, can next be seen in the upcoming sci-fi thriller, Black Hole.
Gala’s Birthday Party
Ahead of Pattinson’s birthday on April 18, Gala celebrated her big day with friends and fans at a private dinner party at Le Royal Monceau in Cannes. Topping the bill were musicians including Ed Sheeran, John Legend, and Travis Scott, who performed for the singer.
Gala, who turns 47 on April 18, is reportedly worth $100 million and made her first million at the age of 22 as a music star. She made her acting debut in 1998’s Faithful, followed by a string of critically acclaimed films that included 2001’s Gosford Park and 2013’s Suffering.
The singer’s birthday party comes just a few weeks after she was in Paris for the premiere of her new film, The Spy, in which she plays secret agent Daisy Grant. The film marks Gala’s return to the big-screen after a seven-year absence.
Pattinson’s Dinner With Friends
On Thursday, April 17, it was reported that Pattinson had dinner guests in mind as he planned his Friday night out in Cannes. The actor, who is currently in France for the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, where he is presenting the awards, met with French actress and comedian Emmanuelle Béart and French journalist and TV host Stéphanie de Beauvoir. He also dined with festival director Thierry Despont and André Malraux, the great French novelist and politician who chaired the jury for the festival’s top prize, the Golden Palm, in 2019.
This is the first time that Pattinson has been seen in public since he arrived in France for the film festival. Despont noted that the actor, who was represented by his agent’s office in Paris, had requested meetings with French journalists and was eager to promote his upcoming films. The director added that the actor, whose recent films have been critical and commercial successes, is likely to be at the forefront of Cannes’ social scene this year.
Pattinson At The Spire London
On March 26, it was reported that Pattinson had returned to London, his home city, to begin work on the set of his upcoming film, Black Hole. The actor, who made his name playing romantic leads in several box-office hits, including Water for Elephants and The Twilight Saga, will next be seen portraying the Devil in Julian Drakes’ Sundance Institute theatrical presentation, Darkside. Directed by Jeremy Saulnier and produced by Scott Free, Black Hole is set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival next month. In the film, Pattinson portrays an astronaut tasked with finding a way to save the world after a solar superstorm decimates the Earth’s magnetic field and satellites are rendered useless.
After filming in London wrapped on April 23, it was revealed that the actor would be taking a break from Black Hole to star in the upcoming HBO Max series, The New Lord of the Rings, alongside series creators J.J. Abrams and Damon Lindelof. Filmed in Belfast in 2018, the first season of the eight-part drama will premiere in May.
Pattinson, who has been married to French singer and actress Victoria Beckham since 2014, will star alongside Hollywood A-listers such as Naomi Watts, Felicity Jones, and Richard Madden in a story that follows the rise of a corporate lawyer who decides to fight for what she believes in and becomes entangled in a web of political conspiracy. The New Lord of the Rings will draw inspiration from J.R.R. Tolkien’s masterpiece and is being billed as “Game of Thrones meets It.”
