He’s been in the news a lot lately. Most recently, he caused a media frenzy when he was spotted holding hands with his girlfriend, FKA Twigs. In fact, it would be an understatement to say that the tabloids have had a field day with this story. From paparazzi photos to gossip columns to social media, the press has certainly tried to keep their eyes and ears open for any sign of trouble for the British actor.

Is He Confident?

While he may be having a good time romancing FKA Twigs, what is the actor’s confidence level like these days? Is he feeling secure in his relationship knowing that the world is watching? Has he been feeling any sense of burden that the weight of the world is on his shoulders?

According to friends, the actor is confident and at peace. In fact, he’s even chosen to embrace the scrutiny somewhat. “He’s always been really happy and secure in his relationship,” a witness said. “They’re good for each other and good for his mental health.”

Is He A Good Listener?

Another trait that the tabloids have latched onto is Pattinson’s alleged bad manners. From describing his laugh as “cringey” to talking over the heads of guests at a fancy restaurant, the press has gone above and beyond in their pursuit of untruths about the actor. And, really, who wouldn’t be offended by such behavior?

To be fair, many have accused Pattinson of being unkind to his friends. While in New York City recently to promote his latest film, Pattinson spent more than a day and a half filming scenes with his co-star Amy Schumer. But when Schumer went to visit a sick friend, Pattinson reportedly snubbed her request for a face-to-face meeting. Instead, he invited her to a party he was throwing that evening. Even though Schumer was in town with her kids, she chose to absent herself from the event. After the party, Schumer reportedly received an angry text from Pattinson. (Schumer’s publicist told The Associated Press that the comedian doesn’t “really want to talk about that right now.”)

When it comes to listening to friends and family, Pattinson is said to be a good listener. One person who has commented on this subject is his on/off friend and confidante Olivia Olson. In a lengthy September interview with GQ, Olson discussed what it’s been like for her as a friend and colleague of Pattinson’s. She added, “He always listens to other people and wants to understand what they’re talking about, but at the same time, he doesn’t always agree. That’s the interesting paradox.” While we may never know what went down between those two at the party in New York City, it’s clear that they share a close friendship.

What About His Mom?

Speaking of paradoxes, it would be a shame to leave this article without discussing Pattinson’s mom. After all, everyone’s got a story about Pattinson’s mom. One of the most well-known stories involves the singer/songwriter Linda Perry, with whom he had a one-year relationship in the ’90s. They broke up when he was 21 but stayed in touch. Years later, when Perry decided to become a mother, she chose to give birth to her son Christian in July 2014. (Perry’s representative has said that Linda isn’t exactly sure why she chose to give birth to Christian in such unusual circumstances. It’s probably best to leave it at that.)

Pattinson’s mom still checks in on him from time to time, surprising friends and family with her frequent visits. “Whenever I see his mom, she’s always acting like a mom,” a person who has known and spoken to Pattinson’s mom said in 2016. “She’ll be like, ‘Hi, son. How are you doing?’ And then, out of the blue, she’ll be like, ‘Oh, I love your movies.’ It’ll be like a total 180. But it’s always great when she comes to see him. He always has a little surprise for her. Like last time, when he got a little dog and named it Lola. She was so happy.”

It would be one thing if Pattinson’s mom’s surprise were a gift of some kind. But she’s not exactly hidden the fact that she’s a fan of his work. In fact, she’s been a vocal supporter of him from the beginning, going so far as to help pay for his acting classes. From attending his big-budget movie premieres to showing up at awards show dressed in costume (complete with fake breasts), Pattinson’s mom has never been one to shy away from the spotlight. She’s been a consistent presence at his events, often wearing outrageous get-ups that draw attention (and the occasional giggle or laugh from her son).

So, yeah, Robert Pattinson’s life may be good right now. But it wouldn’t be a complete article about him if we didn’t discuss the fact that he’s been in the tabloids a lot lately. While many have turned a blind eye to this (probably because they know that he’s already been there, done that, and moved on), it would be best for his own sake (and that of his fans) if he didn’t do or say anything that could make the tabloids sit up and take notice. It’s good that he’s happy, confident, and at ease with who he is. But, for the sake of his career, he needs to remember that there’s always going to be another story about him, especially now that the paparazzi have learned their lesson and are out to capture every moment of his life. This is someone who needs to be mindful of what he says and does, especially since he has such a massive audience that he now attracts. He can’t afford to be careless. As they say, be careful what you ask for…
