So here’s what we did: we compiled a collection of the best Robert Pattinson memes and turned them into a fun meme generator. Enjoy!
The Evolution Of A Meme
It all started with a tweet. On October 24th, 2015, Robert Pattinson’s official Twitter account tweeted out a link to an article about him and his fiancee, Suki Waterhouse. The article, published on the 23rd, interviewed the couple about their engagement and wedding plans. The author’s name is Emily Manches, and she wrote the following:
“I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw this photo of Robert Pattinson on my screen. It’s been such a long time since I’ve seen him look so happy and content. I feel like it’s been a while since I’ve seen him smile like that.”
As you can see, this was before their PR team started shushing the media. Anyway, the tweet caught on like wildfire, and people started tweeting about how great it was to see Robert Pattinson smile, and how sad it was that this was a rare occurrence. Someone even created a “Thank You” meme featuring the actor in an attempt to keep the great times coming. Soon, the hashtag #RobertPattinsonMeme was all over the place, and people were making funny memes about the actor’s adorable expressions and rare moments of happiness.
The Best Of The Meme Generation
So here’s where things get interesting. To keep things fresh (and because we want to continue making memes about this hilarious man), we’ve decided to update this blog post with new memes every other week. That’s right—we’re keeping this fresh for you, the reader. Every two weeks, we’ll be bringing you new memes about this amazing actor. Some of them will be old classics that you may already know and love. Some of them will be brand-new. We hope you’ll enjoy them all, because let’s face facts: this guy is too funny not to stick around for awhile.
Let’s get to the memes. We’ll start off with three old classics and then move on to the rest.
1. A Rare Moment Of Contentment
This first meme is probably the most famous of all the memes. It’s been around since 2015, and it’s appeared in numerous other works (including the “Suki Waterhouse” and “Saving Mr. Wu” memes we’ll be getting to below). In this meme, you’ll see Pattinson’s face superimposed on top of a crying baby. The meme goes viral every time it’s posted, and it’s even been used as a promotional banner by TV Land. The meme perfectly encapsulates that moment when you think you’re watching an adorable baby cry, and then all of a sudden—BAM!—you see the anguished face of Robert Pattinson, and you realize you’re actually seeing a baby transform into a grotesque demon. If that isn’t meme magic, we don’t know what is.
2. Baby Yoda
This one is pretty self-explanatory. The “Baby Yoda” meme was born out of Emily Manches’ article, mentioned above. In the article, Waterhouse referred to Pattinson as “adorable” and “like a little baby” while describing their first encounter. The article also mentioned that Waterhouse had given birth to her son, Sid, just a few weeks prior. It wasn’t until this point that people started comparing the couple to “Baby Yoda.” The resemblance is uncanny, and the meme quickly became popular—especially when posted alongside an image of one of the couple’s sons, Ewan McGregor.
3. Trying To Keep A Secret
This one is pretty self-explanatory as well. Like “Baby Yoda,” this is another meme that was inspired by Emily Manches’ article. In the article, Waterhouse talked about keeping the engagement secret for as long as she could, and then finally revealing the news in a Twitter post. (That is, until someone reminded her of the meme, and she had to laugh and delete the tweet.) Like Baby Yoda, this is also another meme that became popular after appearing in one of Emily Manches’ articles. In this case, however, the resemblance is closer to that of the “Mullet Sister” meme (see below). The idea behind this one is that Waterhouse is trying to keep the news of her engagement to McGregor’s brother, Robert, a secret. As we mentioned above, this was inspired by Emily Manches’ article, where she asked Waterhouse about keeping the news of her engagement a secret. Waterhouse initially said it was difficult to keep such a big secret, but then quickly added, “But…wait till you see the hair and makeup!” When fans saw Emily Manches’ tweet with Waterhouse’s iconic hair and makeup, it became clear what she meant. The tweet was then republished, and the meme was born. Since then, people have been using this moment as a way to subtly suggest that Waterhouse and McGregor may be related.
4. The Last Of His Kind
This is the last of our three old classics. It was first posted in 2014, and it’s appeared in numerous other works since then. This is the “Saving Mr. Wu” meme, where you’ll see Robert Pattinson’s face superimposed on top of a tuxedo-clad Steve Buscemi. It’s reminiscent of how people used to put Marilyn Monroe’s face on top of a beer bottle to make it look like she was drinking. This one is pretty self-explanatory: Mr. Wu (Steve Buscemi) is the last of his kind. The resemblance between the two is uncanny, and the meme was inspired by the fact that both men are the last of their kind. (Wu is the last of his kind because he wears a tuxedo at all times; Pattinson is the last of his kind because he’s the last child of an actor.)
There, now you know everything you need to know about memes relating to Robert Pattinson. We hope you enjoyed these.
