This October 5th, fans of the ‘80s action-adventure film The Mask will get a chance to relive the glory days from the comfort of their living rooms.
The legendary horror star, William Shatner, will reprise his role as The Chief, and the titular character, the unforgettable character created by Doug McClelland and Jim Henson, will return to the big screen as well.
Also making a comeback will be several original ‘80s cast members, including Roddy McDowall, Daryl Sabara, and Keith David. Collectively known as the Reunion Tour, the group will bring the charm and humor that the viewers loved about the film, and give it an unforgettable outing on the big screen.
As if all of this weren’t enough, producers have brought back the black suit for the lead actor too. This time, it’s none other than our old friend, Robert Pattinson. Yup, the Twilight hunk has put on the suit one last time for the role of the century.
He’ll portray the eponymous character, the famous detective known as ‘The Phantom,’ and venture into the shadowy world of the infamous ‘Phantoms.’
It’s been a long time coming, and it’s been a long road to get here. But it’s finally coming together. In the words of Shatner, ‘Phantom’ will be released on October 5th, and it’s going to be great!
New York City As We Knew It
This October, New York City will be experiencing a bit of a change. For starters, it will be colder than usual, which is actually a good thing. The last thing we want is for our heroes to be sweating profusely, now that we have air-conditioning! But that’s not all this season has in store for our favorite Big Apple. There are going to be some incredible things happening, thanks to some hard work by the production team.
The premiere of ‘Phantom’ will take place on Wednesday, October 5th, at 7:00 p.m. According to our sources, Roddy McDowall will be attending the premiere in New York with his family. If you’re in the city on that night, be sure to go and see him! Unfortunately, we weren’t able to reach McDowall for comment at the time of publishing, but we’ll continue trying until we get some answers!
In the meantime, let’s take a minute to look at the scenery coming right up next to you on the big screen. As we’ve established, this is going to be Robert Pattinson’s final hurrah as The Phantom. For the majority of this year, he’s been hard at work putting the finishing touches on his final film, and it shows. The actor has put on a lot of weight, which is actually a good thing. While we don’t want to diminish the important job he’s done, it’s been a long time coming, and it shows on his face. So let’s give him some credit. This is a role that deserves an old man, not a kid.
‘Phantom’ is a remake of the classic horror film of the ‘80s, The Mask. It is the story of a detective named ‘The Phantom,’ who, after seeing his partner murdered, holes up in a New York City apartment, covered in blood. There, he creates a perfect replica of his partner, wearing his partner’s old clothes. This way, when people try to kill him, they’ll think it’s his partner returning. And they’ll have no idea it’s actually the phantom who committed the murders in the first place!
The script was written by John Duigan and Barry Josephson, who worked with Henson on the ‘80s TV series, Joe Vs. the Volcano. According to our experts, Barry Josephson conceived the character of ‘The Phantom’ back in the ‘70s, and it was finally brought to life through a combination of talent and hard work. It was originally going to be a puppet show, but eventually became a live-action series. We are very grateful to Barry Josephson for giving us The Phantom. He’s one of the primary reasons behind this resurgence. Without him, we may never have gotten to see this character brought to the big screen.
We should also mention that ‘Phantom’ is not the only big-name actor we have in common. Several of the film’s supporting characters, including Roddy McDowall’s character, will be returning as well. But that’s not all. Several of the film’s stars will be making appearances as well, including the legendary William Shatner. You may recognize his character, The Chief, from the ‘80s TV series, ‘Boston Legal.’
There are also several other actors appearing in smaller roles, including Keith David, who played the father in ‘The Hand that Rocks the Cradle,’ and Daryl Sabara, who played the mute brother in ‘Poltergeist.’ We’ve also been informed that several more stars will be making special appearances as well. But what exactly will they be doing? We couldn’t tell you, but it’s sure to be fun to find out!
