Most of us have probably seen the ‘Welcome To My Universe’ video, in which British actor Robert Pattinson gives a beautiful and heartfelt speech to a room of people who have been touched by his work. In case you haven’t seen it, here’s the link.
The video was made to promote Pattinson’s latest movie, ‘What We Do In The Shadows’, in which he plays the lead role of Jacky Mermoz. In the movie, Mermoz is the owner of an unsuccessful French theatre company, who is struggling to make ends meet. He decides to invite his fellow theatre artists for a dinner party, where they can help him come up with a successful plan for his company. The event turns out to be quite the party, and a lot of fun, but also a little bit chaotic.
Robert Pattinson: A Brief Biography
Fans of ‘The Twilight’ and ‘Beauty And The Beast’ series may know a little bit about Robert Pattinson, the Welsh actor who played the role of Edward Cullen in the Twilight series. Before he was an international superstar, Pattinson had to struggle, working as a waiter to pay the bills. He got his big break when he was cast in the role of Edward Cullen in the Twilight film series. Since then he has gone on to appear in many big-name films, including ‘The Lost Boys’, ‘Saving Mr. Banks’ and ‘Good Time’. In addition to his acting career, Pattinson has taken on a more prominent role in promoting veganism, participating in film festivals around the world to talk about his views on the subject. He has also served as the face of many high-profile fashion brands, including Elle, Louis Vuitton and Burberry. In January 2020, GQ magazine named Pattinson the 73rd most influential person in entertainment.
The Twilight Saga: Fansite Dedication
While the Twilight films may not be as popular as they were in their prime (The first film barely broke even at the box office), that doesn’t mean that Twilight fans haven’t kept busy. The saga has given them a lifelong dedication to rooting out all the information they can about the characters and the world that Stephenie Meyer created. In 2018, the same fans assembled for the movie’s 20th anniversary to mark the occasion with a premiere screening of the first film and panel discussions with the cast and crew. It was an incredible event, and a clear example of just how dedicated these fans are to the saga.
Where Is He Located?
If you’ve been following this blog, you’ll know that we’ve been covering the many places that fans of ‘The Twilight Saga’ have travelled to to catch a glimpse of their favorite stars. We’ve gone into a bit more detail about the places where fans have gathered, and what they’ve done there, so let’s take a look.
New York City
In 2014, the year that ‘Breaking Dawn Part 2′ was released, there were a number of events held in New York City as part of ‘The Twilight Saga’s’ final hurrah. The final installment of the saga had just opened in theatres, and fans were in awe of the beautiful and talented women who had shared their extraordinary stories with us. It was an emotional time for the franchise, and Bella’s journey was captured beautifully in the films. After the movies ended, many of the characters, especially Edward, went on a nostalgia trip and took the stage at a number of events around New York City. Edward particularly loved to reminisce about living in the Big Apple back in the day (if you’ll remember, he was born in New York). He made his Brooklyn Academy of Music debut in April 2014 with a sold-out show, performing songs from ‘The Twilight Saga’ and telling stories about his life. These events helped to round out BAM’s annual arts festival, which runs from mid-April until May 14th. In May 2014, it was announced that ‘The Twilight Saga’ would be returning to BAM for a one-night-only residency called ‘Vampire Weekend’. The event will feature a performance from each of the series’ eight films, along with an encore showing of ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’, and will close out BAM’s 47th annual arts festival, which runs from April 17th to May 14th. There will also be a number of additional events, including screenings of all the films, Q&A’s with the cast and more. It should be an incredible show.
The following month, Edward returned to BAM once more in an event called ‘Twilight: Live In Los Angeles’. Like the events in New York City, this one-night-only show was held at the BAM South Bay location and featured a performance from each of the franchise’s seven films. It was a celebration of both ‘The Twilight Saga’ and ‘BAM’, with proceeds going towards supporting arts and culture in Los Angeles. We were lucky enough to be there, and it was an incredible evening. It was very moving to see such a dedicated following come together to celebrate the saga and its incredible cast and crew. The evening was capped by a magnificent fireworks show, which lit the sky over Los Angeles and left us speechless.
Venice
In June 2016, we reported on a number of events that were taking place in Venice, California following the wrap of the ‘Twilight Saga’ sequel, ‘Breaking Dawn – Part 2′. The events were a chance for Edward and the rest of the cast and crew to take a well-deserved break and spend some time with their families. The gorgeous California city was an ideal place to relax and unwind. While the stars were in town, they took the opportunity to walk the city’s winding streets and visit the local cinemas, where they showed the films. It was fascinating to hear the anecdotes about growing up and how the films would impact their lives. The events were a great opportunity for fans to come together and have some fun, while at the same time celebrating Stephenie Meyer’s incredible world. It was also great to see the city’s residents come out in droves to see these Hollywood stars, who they rarely get the chance to see. It gave the city a lovely glow, like watching a movie on a bright sunny day.
Paris
In April 2019, the French capital hosted one of the most spectacular movie events that we’ve ever covered. ‘Avengers: Endgame’ had just crushed its competition at the box office when, in an effort to thank the fans that had supported them throughout the year, the studios behind the movie decided to throw a big party. The venue was changed a number of times as the city was overrun with fans wanting to see their favorite stars. A few of the biggest stars flew in specially for the event, and the organizers did whatever they could to accommodate everyone. The biggest names in entertainment attended the premiere, which was held at the Grand Rex cinema. The following day, the stars visited the French capital’s other theaters around the city to celebrate with fans. While the premiere was going on, the organizers were busy setting up shop in the city’s other cinemas, getting everything ready for the following night. The turnout was absolutely extraordinary, and left the theaters overflowing with people. Paris is famous for hosting premiere parties for its films, but this one took the cake. It was the ultimate ‘thank you’ to the fans, and a magnificent party that will be talked about for years to come. It had everything: wonderful food, fabulous wine, beautiful people and celebrities, and incredible theater traffic. Needless to say, we were there, along with many other outlets, and have some great coverage to show for it.
The Future Of ‘The Twilight Saga’
With the final entry in the Twilight saga, ‘Eclipse’, now nearly 18 months old, there are several options for where the series could go from here. It could continue with another installment, or there could be a limited series of stand-alone films. Either way, the future of ‘The Twilight Saga’ is very much up in the air at this point. The following are some of the places that we would love to see the series go to next.
