Robert Pattinson is one of the most famous and beloved actors of our time. He is best known for playing the role of Cedric Diggory in the Harry Potter film series. Since then, he has taken on a number of other roles in films and on TV. He is most recently seen in the upcoming movies Good Time and The Lost City of Z. If you’re unfamiliar, here’s a quick summary of some of his most important roles:
Released in 2016, The Beach was a coming-of-age story about 16-year-old Sebastian (Joe Chastem), who embarks on a summer journey to Italy with his father (Alan Rickman) and stepmother (Alicia Vikander). During the course of the movie, Sebastian learns about life, love, and the importance of family. While in Italy, he meets and befriends Giuseppe (Robert Pattinson), an older man who becomes like a father figure to him.
The Lost City of Z
In 2017, the World War II drama film The Lost City of Z was loosely based on the true story of Louis L’Amour’s (played by Henry Cavill) quest to find his son, who went missing in the Amazon Jungle during the war. Louis and his wife, Mary (Zoë Kravitz), team up with two other couples to make the journey to find their lost loved ones. Along the way, they encounter hostile tribes, brutal climate, and dangerous animals. The film was directed by David Yates and co-stars John Cena, Cam Clarke, Bokeem Woodbine, and Richard Schiff. After watching the movie, you’ll have a lot to discuss with your loved ones about Louis L’Amour and the Amazon Jungle!
In the upcoming comedy-drama film Good Time, written and directed by Stephen Merchant, Tim Robbins plays Charlie, a washed-up American comedian who embarks on a road trip to Dublin with his friend, Sid (Robbie Coltrane). They’re heading there to help Sid promote his new book, and in the process, they learn a lot about life, love, and the power of redemption. Along the way, Charlie and Sid stop off in different towns to intersect with some of their old girlfriends and take them out to dinner. It’s a very relatable story about friendship, letting go of the past, and finding love again.
In the fantasy movie Doombringer, released in 2018, Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage plays the role of a demon-possessed warrior who must travel back in time to right a wrong that cost humanity many years ago. While on this journey, he meets and falls in love with a sorceress (Judy Greer). Together, they embark on a quest to save mankind from an evil emperor (Eric Roberts). The movie is based on the novel by Roger Zelazny and was directed by Don Bluth. If you’re looking for something a little different, give this one a try!
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2
Finally, in the last movie of the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, we’re treated to a culmination of all the adventures in books one through seven. While there, they once again encounter Lord Voldemort (Tom Hardy) and his powerful Death Eaters. This time, the confrontation is for real. After years of searching, Voldemort has tracked them down and finally has a chance to kill them. It’s an emotional farewell to the audience as well as the stars as they bid farewell to each other one last time before facing their maker. This is an excellent film, one of the best of the entire series, and it’s certainly worth your time to watch it. Some consider this to be the best installment of the entire Harry Potter series. It’s a fitting end to an incredible literary and cinematic journey.
Since we’re guessing that a few of you are probably wondering, yes, it’s true that he does look quite a bit like Robert Pattinson. In fact, if you look at the pictures below, you’ll see that they’re practically identical. This was no accident. The director of the Harry Potter movies, David Yates, studied under the legendary Stanley Kubrick and took inspiration from him. In his book, The Art of Directing, he explains,
“I wanted to create a world that was dark and magical, but not scary… a place where adults could go and enjoy themselves, especially after the events of Deathly Hallows – Part 1. So, I drew on my love of Kubrick and his 2001: A Space Odyssey to give the film a sense of urgency that comes from deep space.”
With all these incredible performances by the leading man, it’s no wonder why people are so obsessed with him. Unfortunately, this obsession sometimes leads to stalking and harassment. If you’re a fan of Robert Pattinson, be careful! Although he’s an incredible actor, he’s still a real person and doesn’t deserve your creepy obsession. Keep your cool and let your admiration show through. It’s a win-win situation.
