We don’t know what the future holds for Robert Pattinson, but one thing we do know for sure is that his upcoming film, Lighthouse, will be released on December 12, 2017. The film is based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Jay Asher. It’s been a while since we’ve seen Pattinson’s character Scottie Ferguson, and from the looks of things, we’re in for a treat. The Scottish actor reportedly had fun playing the part and even got to do some shooting atop a real lighthouse. The footage was so hot that it was actually used in a sex scene between Pattinson and Kristen Stewart (Picture Source)
A Classic Film Role
Pattinson has been acting since he was 15 years old, but it wasn’t until 2014 that he truly broke out as an actor. His role as Edward Cullen in the movie, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 2 received a lot of praise, and even earned him a Golden Globe nomination. It was one of the biggest roles of his career, and it certainly showed.
Since then, he’s mostly been working on smaller films and supporting roles, but that’s all about to change.
A Lighthouse Role
Lighthouse will be Pattinson’s first leading role in a major movie. The story follows Ferguson, a 17-year-old American boy, who travels to Scotland to live with his sister. While there, he befriends a local teen named Òscar (Picture Source), and the two begin to build a close friendship. One day, Ferguson decides to spend the day at Òscar’s Òcastle. While there, he discovers that Òscar is an excellent swimmer and takes him on a boat ride around the islands (Figure Source).
During the ride, Ferguson notices that Òscar is holding something back, and upon further investigation, finds out that Òscar is a masturbator. Ferguson becomes curious and begins to masturbate himself, while Òscar looks on in awe. The two then decide to share their experience with one another and begin a ritual masturbation competition. As their relationship grows, Ferguson eventually reveals to Òscar that he is in fact a talented swimmer, but not interested in going pro. Òscar, however, has other plans. Together, they set off to build a better life for themselves (Picture Source)
After graduating high school, Ferguson goes on to college, where he majorly focuses on studying nature. He wants to be the first to scientifically study and document lighthouses. One day, while studying in Florida (at the University of Florida), Ferguson is approached by a documentary filmmaker named Nico (Picture Source). Nico asks Ferguson to participate in a documentary about lighthouses. He agrees, but then sees footage of Òscar shooting a sex tape with a bikini stripper named Sage (Picture Source). Nico is disappointed that Ferguson did not participate in his project (Figure Source), but instead chose to masturbate to avoid commitment. Ferguson never mentions Òscar or their relationship again, but Òscar is watching. A few years later, after Ferguson graduates from the university, Òscar visits him in Florida. Ferguson is working at a law firm and is now considered a rising Star in his field (Figure Source).
Lighthouse is directed by Gabriel Ricci (Figure Source) and stars Pattinson, Stéphane Le Play (Figure Source), and Frank Walton. The film also features the voices of Alexandra Lee (Figure Source), Sage (Picture Source), and Becky Dale (Picture Source).
A Real Lighthouse Experience
The set of Lighthouse was built entirely on location in Scotland (Figure Source). The actual Òscar ÒCastle and ÒBernard Shaw Lighthouse are part of the Scottish Isles. According to the Lighthouse website, the shoot was such a success that the production company behind Lighthouse decided to create a video portfolio of the best parts of the film. The video was actually released on Nov 20, 2017, and features Pattinson masturbating in front of a real lighthouse. The video also includes a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film (Figure Source).
It’s been a while since we’ve seen Pattinson’s character Scottie Ferguson, and from the looks of things, we’re in for a treat. Not only is Lighthouse set to be Pattinson’s biggest movie to date, but it also marks his first leading role. Fans of The Twilight Saga and Pattinson’s newfound success as an actor can finally rest assured that their passion will not be regreted upon. Be sure to check out Lighthouse when it releases on Dec 12, 2017.
