Actor Robert Pattinson and actress Kristen Stewart were spotted holding hands while posing for a magazine photoshoot in Italy recently. The two recently starred in the critically acclaimed movie, Twilight, which was based on the popular book series by Stephenie Meyer. The film is set for a premiere in Germany on March 31st.
They were photographed by photographer Mario Testino at the beautiful Amalfi Coast in Italy, where many of their scenes in the movie were shot. The beautiful sea surrounds the entire coastline, making it a paradise for travelers and a perfect place for an Italian photoshoot. The two appeared relaxed and happy, and gave several double thumbs up signs as they posed for the cameras.
In other news, Stewart recently wrapped filming on an American Horror Story teaser for FX, in which she plays Mrs. MacLeman, a character based on the eponymous fashion designer. She told reporters that she enjoys playing “bad” women, but that she normally plays “strong” women in her movies. However, Stewart refused to comment on the film’s storyline, saying only that it was “good”.
The Making of Twilight
Twilight is the first installment in what is expected to be a five-part adaptation of Meyer’s best-selling novel series, The Twilight Saga. The film, directed by Chris Weitz, was executive produced by David Heyman and distributed by Summit Entertainment. It was written by Melissa Rosenberg and is based on Stephenie Meyer’s screenplay. The movie marks the acting debut of lead actor Robert Pattinson, who plays the charismatic vampire Edward Cullen. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Weitz briefly discussed the making of the movie and its biggest challenges.
“There are so many challenges to making a film like this,” he said. “One of the biggest is that you don’t want to fuck up the chemistry between Robert [Pattinson] and Kristen [Stewart], because they’re both masterful actors, and you don’t want to mess that up. Fortunately, we were able to find a way to make it work, and they still manage to look like they’re having an affair even though they are, in fact, married.”
On the topic of their romantic relationship, Weitz revealed that director of photography Dante Spinotti tried to give the film a “chapel atmosphere,” which he described as “like a wedding chapel with stained-glass windows.”
“It’s a very romantic feeling when you watch them walk down the aisle,” Weitz said. “And then they have that first kiss, which is so romantic. It’s something that you dream about as a director — to be able to shoot that first kiss.”
The Romantically Inappropriate Behavior Of Robert Pattinson And Kristen Stewart
It is well-documented that the couple has been inseparable since meeting on the set of the 2004 movie, Dirty Pretty Things. The two wed in August 2006 in an extravagant ceremony in the Scottish highlands, where Stewart is from. However, they soon fell into the trap of inappropriate behavior that is so typical of celebrities trying to keep their relationships secret. They have had to regularly deny the rumors that they were having an affair, which culminated in an ugly media battle in 2015. The two later worked things out and were happily married in a very private ceremony in France in September 2017. Despite all of this, they still insist that their private life is their own business and that the rumors are completely unfounded.
Where Do They Go From Here?
After a five-year sabbatical, Stewart is set to return to the big screen with the historical drama, Gatsby, based on the novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald. She will play Daisy Buchanan, the love interest of protagonist Jay Gatsby (played by rapper and singer Kanye West). In another project the actress is in line to play the lead role in the upcoming third installment of the Divergent series, based on Veronica Roth’s novel of the same name. Stewart is also set to star in an adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman series for Netflix. The upcoming schedule is enough for any woman, let alone an exhausted one!
Pattinson is also set to make a return to the big screen at the end of this year. He will star alongside BAFTA winner Olivia Colman in the comedy-drama, Birds of a Feather, directed by Richard Loncraine. The movie is loosely based on the true story of the Cottingley Fairies, a collection of fairies photographed in the English countryside in 1914. The two will begin filming in April in London and the Lake District. Their working relationship has not been harmed by all of this, and they continue to be one of Hollywood’s most admired on-screen couples.
