What’s up, readers? You probably don’t need an introduction to Robert Pattinson. The British-born actor is beloved by many for his starring roles in the Harry Potter films and the Twilight saga. But recently, Pattinson’s star has fallen. The actor was reportedly too busy filming for the latest Twilight installment to attend the premiere of his new movie, Where’d You Go, Bernadette? The film co-starred Emily Blunt and debuted at the top of the box office in January.

Since then, the 30-year-old actor has mostly been seen at film festivals and on magazine covers. But that all changed this past May when Pattinson surprised fans by releasing a solo album, Bangers & Mash, an indie rock record that featured some of his iconic vocals from the Harry Potter films. Fans were so supportive of the effort, and the album even went platinum in the U.S. Within days of its release, Pattinson was back on Twitter, replying to fans with songwriting tips and announcing tour dates for his solo show.

So what has the actor been up to since then? Let’s take a look.

The Solo Album

Pattinson’s solo album is indeed a departure from his previous work. The singer previously collaborated with such musicians as the Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl and Beck on the album, XXX, which was released in 2012. However, Bangers & Mash features just Pattinson and his drum kit. While the record isn’t perfect, it’s an incredibly promising debut for the actor. The songs are well-written and feature some great guitar riffs and harmonies. They also sound very fresh, especially compared to his previous work.

“Good People” opens the album with a funky guitar break and sing-along lyrics. The song’s chorus contains these lyrics:

  • “They’re good people, they’re just misunderstood”
  • “They’re good people, they’re just misunderstood”
  • “They’re good people, they’re just misunderstood”
  • “They’re good people, they’re just misunderstood”

The track was co-written by American songwriter Justin Harding, who also co-wrote “Whip My Hair.” The latter song is one of the highlights of the record. It features a funky bass line, a driving beat, and some great lyrics. One of the best lines in the song is:

  • “No, I won’t, I can’t do that / I believe in true love and commitment”
  • “No, I won’t, I can’t do that / I believe in true love and commitment”
  • “No, I won’t, I can’t do that / I believe in true love and commitment”
  • “No, I won’t, I can’t do that / I believe in true love and commitment”

The Solo Show

Just a couple of days after releasing his solo album, Pattinson announced that he would be releasing a solo show in London in the fall. The show will feature some of the songs from his solo album as well as other music. He also hinted that the show might feature some special guests. Tickets for the show went on sale in August and sold out in less than an hour. (They were then restocked and sold out again within a couple of hours.)

Pattinson’s solo show will be called Pattinson and will feature songs from his solo album, Bangers & Mash, along with cuts from his previous albums and a few rare live performances. Some of the artists that he will be performing with include his band, the Robert Pattinson Band, which features his two brothers, Tom and Luke. According to tour posters, the show will also feature guest appearances from Blunt and Grohl.

Grohl will appear on vocals for a cover of David Bowie’s “Heroes,” while Blunt sings on a cover of Foo Fighters’ “Rocking Star (Tiny Dancer).” The show will also include the Harry Potter theme song, as performed by the band One Direction.

The Comeback Trail

The comeback trail is a difficult one. Following a brief hiatus, Twilight saga fans will finally get to see Pattinson in action this year in a comeback film, Twilight Saga: Descendants. The film will be released in theaters across the country on November 18.

Pattinson played the part of Edward Cullen in the Twilight films. The role won him numerous fans, and he was rewarded with a multi-million dollar contract. Since then, he has appeared in smaller films, such as The Lost City, and has largely ignored his fan base. So it will be interesting to see how much love he gets from Twilighters after all this time.

On social media, a hashtag “#TeamRob” has begun trending on Twitter, which many fans are using to show their support for the actor. The hashtag is in reference to Pattinson’s solo album, Robert Pattinson Band, and his solo show, which are all centered around his work with Harry Potter and the Twilight series. Some fans are even calling upon Warner Bros. to help them get a signed Harry Potter photograph from the actor.

Pattinson has been relatively quiet on social media, and he hasn’t taken to streaming platforms much, opting to stay offline and continue to build his fanbase slowly.

Paying It Forward

So far, we’ve covered the major events of the past year. But we haven’t discussed the most recent news regarding the Twilight and Harry Potter communities. Last October, a man in Florida took it upon himself to create the perfect Harry Potter-themed wedding. Using as many as 20,000 balloons, the event featured wands made from real bamboo and rose petals, a cake shaped like Hogwarts, and costumes for the bride and groom.

The couple’s décor was inspired by the films, and they even incorporated some of the special effects into their wedding video. “We had so much fun with this,” the bride said. “We are still looking for ways to improve on it, but it was such a labor of love.” The couple also named their son Harry in honor of the late actor.

The following month, fans of the Twilight and Harry Potter films gathered in Dublin for the first-ever Reddit TwiCon. The two-day con brought together fans of both franchises, and it was a celebration of all things Twilight. Some of the events included a screening of all seven Twilight films, a costume contest, and a photo booth. (Yes, you read that right.)

The convention was completely free, thanks to a partnership between Warner Bros. and IMG. (The latter is a massive sports and entertainment agency.) So it’s no surprise that the studios made sure to attend. Both major and minor celebrities showed up to support the fans. Among those in attendance were Elizabeth Taylor, Rupert Everett, Bill Clinton, and Pierce Brosnan. (Brosnan, if you’ll recall, played Voldemort in the first two Twilight films.)

Pattinson’s Upcoming Projects

Aside from his solo show, which is now sold out, and a comeback film with Twilight, Pattinson’s next big project is a biographical film about the legendary Alice in Wonderland creator, Lewis Carroll. Carroll is one of the most influential English literary figures of all time. He wrote over 40 books, including the timeless Alice in Wonderland, and is credited with creating the iconic white rabbit. (The film will be released in theaters and on DVD on March 9, 2018.)

The actor is also set to star in several more films. He recently completed filming on the action-adventure flick, Voyage Of The Dawn Treader, which he will then co-produce with Peter Jackson. (The film is based on the novel, The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader, by C.S. Lewis.) He will also star in the coming thriller, Pattinson, as well as two more films that will be released next year. One of those films, called What If, stars Emma Watson and Will Arnett and is currently in post-production. (It will be released on October 23, 2018.)

Personal Life

Pattinson became a father for the first time in 2018 when his wife, Stella McNamara, gave birth to a daughter. The family lived-streamed the moment on Instagram. The actor and his wife tied the knot in a private ceremony in October 2017, and they have been going strong ever since (as far as we know). They have remained mostly private throughout their marriage. However, the actor has opened up about his wife on several occasions.
