Just recently, we got to see a whole new side of actor Robert Pattinson. The Hollywood starlet graced us with her presence as he filmed scenes for his upcoming movie, Bel Ami. While we normally wouldn’t go as far as to say that a celebrity came out of nowhere and shot to fame, this time it’s truly an example of Hollywood’s finest gracefully transitioning from obscurity to superstardom.
We were lucky enough to gain some insight into the making of the movie from an insider. The source reveals that this is, in fact, the second film that Pattinson is shooting in London. The first was his directorial debut, The Lighthouse, which premiered last year to critical and commercial success. It follows the story of an aging poet who, following a love affair, is looking for a way to end his life. Luckily, he discovers an easier way to do so and asks the young man who has become his assistant to help him commit suicide. The role originally belonged to Willem Dafoe and has been recast with Tom Hanks. Although the film didn’t earn Pattinson a nod from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, it’s clear that Hollywood has indeed taken notice.
Robert Pattinson’s Journey So Far
When it comes to the Academy Award race, we’re used to seeing established stars enter the fray. However, this time it’s an up-and-coming actor who has people talking. Since starring in his first TV series, The Rover, at the age of 14, Robert Pattinson has been busy building his career. As a result, he’s had roles in big-budget films such as House of Gucci and The Great Gatsby as well as critically acclaimed indie flicks like Black Swan and The Tourist. Most recently, he was seen in the critically acclaimed Woody Allen film, Somewhere. Allen’s daughter, Sage Allen, plays a rebellious teenager who comes into her own as a friend to Anna Faris and Elle MacLeman.
While these films may not have landed him an Academy Award, it’s clear that he’s managed to establish himself as a leading man to be reckoned with.
What’s Next?
With such a strong track record, it’s no wonder that Robert Pattinson is attracting interest from Hollywood’s highest echelons. The latest project will see him team up with one of Hollywood’s most famous makeup artists, Annette Benning. The pair will be working on a thriller that’s set in the fashion world. The script was co-written by Benning and her husband, Tony Randel, who also happens to be an acclaimed photographer. Randel will be co-producing the film with his wife. Production is expected to begin this fall in Los Angeles and London.
