It’s been four years since we’ve seen anything from the Twilight Saga. The franchise ended with the release of Eclipse in 2012 and the actors have since taken a backseat in the public eye to the casts of The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones. The same can be said of the stars of the Twilight films. Since the final film in the franchise, Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, was released in 2012, the actors have been relatively quiet aside from promoting the upcoming adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower.
However, at the end of 2009, the actors and actresses of the Twilight Saga returned to the big screen with a bang. Literally. After four years, we got a glimpse of what the future may hold for the former Twilight stars in the form of a classic Hollywood style headshot.
Quiet Onset
If you’ve been wondering where all the Twilight stars have been for the last four years, it’s primarily because they’ve been very private individuals. While the actors have mostly kept a low profile, occasionally making headlines for their work with animals (for Edward) or in honour of their mother (for Jacob). It wasn’t until December 2009 that we learned of Vanessa Hudgens’s pregnancy and the birth of her daughter, Stella. The actress chose to keep the news quiet for almost a whole year before making the announcement.
However, even before the birth of her baby girl, Hudgens was considered a mother-to-be due to her engagement to Chris Pratt. The couple were married in May 2010 and welcomed their baby boy later that year. They continue to make headlines for their involvement in the 2015 satirical drama, An Incredible Year.
A Snapshot Of Timeless Beauty
When it comes to the Twilight series, everyone knows what to expect: sparkly vampires and werewolves pulling on each other’s clothing as they fight for the soul of a human. While this is highly enjoyable on paper, watching it recreated by motion pictures can be rather…well, let’s be honest, frustrating. It’s one thing to read about the violence and vulgar language that is prevalent in the series, but quite another to see it played out on screen.
Nonetheless, these are but some of the more minor details that make the film so unique. For a film that came out in theatres 25 years ago, the special effects still hold up surprisingly well. More importantly, the story still has the ability to shock and evoke strong emotions from viewers even now. When you throw in the fact that the film was produced at a time when family planning and child birth were still somewhat taboo, it’s no wonder why it continues to resonate with audiences.
Breaking Dawn – Part 2
After four years, five novels, and two feature-length films, the actors and actresses of the Twilight Saga returned to the big screen with a bang. Literally. After the release of Twilight Saga: Eclipse in 2012, the actors and actresses of the Twilight Saga returned to the big screen with a bang. Literally. As the film’s title suggests, part two of the Breaking Dawn – Part 2 sees the culmination of Bella’s (Kristen Stewart) pregnancy from Eclipse. This time around, she gives birth to a healthy baby girl. The name of the little girl is Suki and the film will be released in theaters on December 21, 2019.
A Portrait Gallery Of Rage
If you thought the Twilight stars were quiet before the release of Eclipse in 2012, then you’d be mistaken. Aside from some cameos in the last two films, the actors and actresses of the Twilight Saga largely remained in the public eye after the release of their second film. However, that all changed with the release of Eclipse. The film ended with a whimper rather than the bang we were treated to four years before. Instead of the happy family scenes we were expecting, Eclipse ended with Bella turning on the people she loves the most.
While on the surface, this may seem like wishful thinking on the part of the fans, the film’s director, Bill Condon, dispelled these notions with his comment. During an interview on Talking Movies, he stated:
“I wouldn’t say it was a whimper. Obviously, it’s an ending and you don’t always get what you want in life. But I thought it was one of the most mature endings to a romantic comedy I’ve ever seen. I think it’s realistic.”
Indeed, it’s realistic. Four years have passed since then and the actors have been relatively quiet. Aside from the occasional appearance in a TV commercial or on another celebrity’s arm, we’ve largely seen them stay out of the limelight. However, this all changed with the release of Eclipse. We got a glimpse of the future. Or, at least, what could have been. What we got was a young woman, torn between two worlds and struggling to accept herself. The same can be said for the fans of the Twilight series. If you thought the last four years were quiet, then you’d be mistaken. Eclipse ended a whimper, but it also marked the beginning of a whole new era for the cast of the Twilight Saga.
As we mentioned before, since the release of Eclipse, the actors and actresses of the Twilight Saga have largely remained in the public eye. This has largely been thanks to their involvement in major motion pictures and the fact that many of them are now parents. In 2019 alone, we saw the stars of the Twilight series show up to support Avengers actor Chris Evans at the premiere of his film, A.C.O.D. As well, we got a glimpse of the future in the form of a classic Hollywood style headshot for the four year anniversary of Breaking Dawn – Part 2. These days, the stars of the Twilight Series are very busy parents as many of them have had to take time off work to be with their families. This has resulted in some very interesting photo shoots. Most notably, the four year anniversary of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 saw the stars of the film return to the big screen with a bang. Literally.
Since then, the actors and actresses of the Twilight Saga have continued to make headlines. In April 2019 alone, Stewart was in the news for the major role she played in Peter Jackson’s The King of the Monsters. It was revealed she would soon be giving birth to her and Pratt’s first child and she took to her Instagram for the first time in four years to show off her growing baby bump.
Alongside these events, the actors have been busy performing in major motion pictures. In October 2019, Stewart, along with Stewart’s The Witch and The Grinch star, Anna Kendrick, showcased their vocal talent in the animated fantasy, Frozen II. Stewart also lent her voice to the upcoming video game, Anthem, which is set to be released in December 2019.
However, this fall and winter are a busy time for the stars of the Twilight Saga as they continue to be featured in major motion pictures. While some are prepping for the big screen release of The Dark Tower, others continue to be connected to major Hollywood productions. This has resulted in some very interesting photo shoots and, since we’re already into the winter season, we thought it would be a good idea to revisit one of the most iconic celebrity portrait sessions of all time. We’ll begin our journey back in time to revisit one of the most iconic celebrity portrait sessions of all time in the form of a timeline. Enjoy!
