This week we’ll tell you about the interesting history of the Robert Pattinson House in Los Angeles. You may know that one of the most famous natives of Los Angeles, California is Robert Pattinson, who is best known for starring in the popular movie series, ‘The Twilight Saga’ and for his role as the vampire, Edward Cullen. The series was so popular that it even spawned books, magazine articles, and even an apparel line. Since its inception in 2007, the house that Pattinson shares with his wife, Rosie, has been the subject of numerous stories.

The house was originally constructed in 1911 and was purchased by the actor in 1945. After living in the house for several years, Pattinson decided to renovate the property and turn it into a museum dedicated to the history of Los Angeles. He enlisted the help of architect, Simon van den Broek, and interior designer, Kobi Koolhaas, whose clients include the Blahnik Sisters and Ralph Lauren. The house has been featured on multiple television shows, such as ‘Vogue’, ‘Paris Hilton’s Love Island’, and ‘Queer Eye’. In 2016, Vanity Fair ranked it among the “World’s Most Famous Interiors’.

The House That Pattinson Built

The main house at 1405 North Gillette Road in the Holmby Hills section of Los Angeles is an example of modern architecture and design. It measures 24,500 square feet and features seven bedrooms and a movie room. The property also includes an apartment that was designed for actress Angela Bassetti and a guest house that was built in the shape of a cross between a golf club and a wine bottle. A large swimming pool sits at the center of the property and features a fountain that erupts from the middle of the pool.

The house was inspired by architect, Craig Ellwood’s, love of golf and the game’s connection to both Scotland and Venice, California. The pool area is an example of Ellwood’s use of modern materials, such as marble and wood, in a traditional Scottish fashion. Ellwood has also designed a nine-hole golf course, the Gillette Club, that sits at the back of the property.
