The name Robert Pattinson is usually associated with the most prominent and successful actors in Hollywood. Most of us know him as the lover of the leading lady in the Harry Potter movies: Victoria. Since the Twilight Saga came out, Robert has become the most sought-after male star in Hollywood. And it’s not only about romance: he’s also the face of many popular products, such as Apple’s iPhone and Burberry’s fragrance. It seems that the world loves the 25-year-old British star.
But what exactly is his secret to success? Is he just a pretty boy with good looks and no brains? Or does he have what it takes to succeed in Hollywood? Let’s take a look at his acting career so far and the chances that he has of overtaking the competition.
Career
Robert had quite the coming-out party in 2011. After the huge success of the Twilight franchise, he was suddenly and effortlessly propelled into the forefront of Hollywood. He filmed for the big-budget blockbuster Avengers as one of its main stars alongside Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, and Captain America; and then had a cameo appearance in the hugely successful comedy-adventure film The Hangover Part II. The following year, he starred alongside Victoria in the much-anticipated romantic comedy What You Wish (for which he also wrote the screenplay). In addition to this, he filmed the highly anticipated fantasy-romance Hidden World, which was released in December of that year.
Since then, he has remained one of the most in-demand leading men in Hollywood. And it’s easy to see why. Not only does he have a charming and personable demeanour that most actors cannot seem to resist, but he also has an incredible talent for portraying brooding characters with soulful eyes. But perhaps his greatest asset is that he is always willing to tackle powerful and influential roles. He proved this by playing the lead in the biopic The Gunman (based on the John Lee Campbell novel of the same name), and having a small but important supporting role in the critically acclaimed Netflix series Bloodline. He continued to show off his acting skill in 2018 when he starred in the critically acclaimed crime thriller Under the Silver Lake as the young, ambitious attorney Mark Sennett. And in 2019 he will be seen as a Bond villain in the upcoming James Bond film, No Time to Die.
Oscar Wins
While many might argue that Robert’s greatest achievement to date is his reputation as a loving and caring boyfriend, it’s clear that his professional success has not gone to his head. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. He still remembers his roots and continues to support various charitable causes. In 2018, he lent his voice to the animated film Happy Merchant Season 2, which focuses on issues of gentrification and income inequality. Most notably, he won an Academy Award for Best Actor for his riveting portrayal of real-life English poet and painter Francis Bacon in the 2019 biographical film of the same name. The role won him rave reviews and a string of awards, including a Golden Globe and BAFTA. Even before the film’s premiere, tickets for a showing in London’s West End sold out in record time. For his role as the tortured artist, Robert earned more than £350,000 (approximately $472,000).
With all these accolades, it’s clear that Robert has not only impressed Hollywood but the world at large. It seems that the fame and fortune that he has amassed through his exceptional talent can be traced to a combination of factors – not least, the fact that he possesses a unique and effortless charm. So, if you’re interested in creating a successful acting career, Hollywood might be the place to do so. But perhaps find a mentor or two along the way.
