I have a confession to make. I really like Emma Watson. I think she is a beautiful, talented and down-to-earth woman. Plus, she’s a member of the Harry Potter generation, which means she is royalty in my book.
For those of you who don’t know, Emma Watson is one of the Harry Potter film stars. She played Hermione Granger in all eight of the Harry Potter films. Since then, she has continued to act and recently published a cookbook. She also founded the Emma Watson Beauty Bootcamp, which provides sustainable skincare and haircare for young women in developing countries. We can learn a lot from Emma Watson. Here are some of my favourite things about her.
She Is Classy
Emma Watson is anything but your typical Hollywood star. She is a very classy woman and doesn’t seem to be interested in scandal or in being trendy. She has said that she likes classy men and doesn’t usually get involved with anyone who isn’t. She also frequently posts classy photos on her Instagram account. It would seem that Robert Pattinson, the man she reportedly had a secret relationship with, feels the same way. She has been photographed with other famous men, including Tom Hiddleston and Jake Gyllenhaal, but none of those sightings were labelled as “secret”. It’s interesting to note that she didn’t publicly acknowledge her relationship with Robert Pattinson until six months after his death. In an interview, she said:
“You know, sometimes it’s good to keep a part of your life private and not be really public with it. I didn’t want my relationship to define me or my work, and I felt like there were so many people who didn’t know me as well as they could have. I didn’t want my private life to be my public life, especially as a woman.”
She Is Confident
Emma Watson has always had a really positive attitude. She isn’t easily daunted by anything, and I think that is both attractive and inspiring. I have met her, and she seems like a genuinely kind and decent person. She also has a wonderful sense of humour and isn’t afraid to laugh at herself. As I said, she is confident and doesn’t seem to care what people think about her. She wants to make herself known for her talent and not for her relationships or her family history. I think that is admirable.
She Is Kind
Another thing I love about Emma Watson is how kind she is. Not only does she seem to have a kind heart, but she also does a lot for charity and other kind causes. The Emma Watson Beauty Bootcamp takes pride in being a “lean-friendly” business, which means they hold events and offer discounts for those in need. They also have a kind of “sisterhood” of female entrepreneurs who support and bring each other up. As an ambassador for UN Women, which fights for gender equality, she has worked with prominent fashion designers to create special limited edition dresses for women in developing countries. On her Instagram account, she regularly shares kind messages and photos of herself with other celebrities and even with those she hardly knows. She seems to genuinely want to make the world a better place. In the words of Dumbledore, “It is our choices that guide us to who we are, good or bad.” Her actions certainly show that she is a good person, and I think that says a lot. At times like these, it’s important to reflect on one’s own choices and how they affect the world around them.
She Is Adventurous
Emma Watson’s love for travel and new experiences is clearly illustrated by her multiple Instagram feeds. She has visited some of the most beautiful places in the world and taken amazing photos there. One of her latest social media posts shows her looking out at the lights from the top of the Eiffel Tower. What an amazing panorama! It would seem that Emma Watson is an adventure seeker at heart, and that is probably what attracted Robert Pattinson to her. She has been photographed on a mountain in Mexico, hanging off a cliff in Italy, and sitting in a saffron-coloured traditional Indian sari. These are clearly not the sorts of locations one typically finds celebrities. However, it is the sort of thing that makes her special and I think that is part of what made her such an attractive proposition for Pattinson.
She Is Different
One of the things I love most about Emma Watson is how different she is from the rest of the Hollywood movie stars. First of all, she doesn’t seem to crave adoration or attention, which is certainly different from most celebrities. Second, she doesn’t seem to need to keep people guessing about her. Even when she was a child actor, her appearance in the Harry Potter films didn’t make her famous. She grew up in a small town in England and went to the local comprehensive. She didn’t even make it into the top three at Hogwarts and yet she still hasn’t found it hard to live in the spotlight. Third, she doesn’t fit the typical Hollywood mould. She isn’t trying to be something she is not. She is a wonderful actress, a model and a humanitarian. She has been very open about her differences, which I think is great. Fourth, she doesn’t care about what people think about her. She has been quoted as saying: “I don’t usually get involved with anyone who isn’t a mature adult.” I think this is one of the reasons she has been able to keep her private life so private. Most celebrities have to deal with overzealous fans and people who want to use their image for financial or political gain. Emma Watson has not really had to deal with this. She has kept her personal life private, and that has made all the difference.
Emma Watson is a woman of many talents, and I think that is what led to her secret love affair with the heartthrob Robert Pattinson. He apparently had a huge crush on her while they were filming Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. He even reportedly proposed to her after the movie was released. They kept their relationship a secret but recently she has been celebrating their six-year anniversary. It would seem that her private life and her work are truly separate. She doesn’t try to combine the two and hasn’t really needed to. She has always managed to maintain a high degree of privacy, and I think that is what makes her so special. The fact that she isn’t into scandals or is shy about her personal life makes me like her a lot.
