There are certain looks that simply cannot be perfected no matter how many times we try. Take the simple yet extremely effective hairstyle for example. It can be sported by the most talented of celebrities and it never goes out of fashion. We’re talking about the classic French rollerskate, which is how we know this haircut to be effective. The problem is that each time we see someone sporting this awesome haircut, it’s always someone new. As great as the look is, we always seem to have to wait for the next big trend to make its appearance once more.
This was certainly the case with actor Robert Pattinson. It seems like only yesterday that we were talking about his crazy hair choices and how he constantly updates his hairstyle. From braids and cornrows to hair crystals and gels, the ever-fashionable Pattinson was always one step ahead of the trends. He would even go on to change his hair color three times in a single year. Naturally, this led to a bit of a trend of its own, as people started to imitate his hair-care routine. Sadly, due to his extremely busy schedule, it seems like we won’t be seeing much of the gorgeous British actor for a while now.
The Comeback
For those of you who are familiar with the work of Robert Pattinson, you’ll know that this is not the first time he’s gone through a bit of a comeback. Following a relatively quiet period, the once-great actor decided to make a comeback in 2010 after being away from the big screen for two years. His first movie of the year was a gritty crime drama titled Killing Them Softly, which was followed by a leading role in the psychological thriller Flesh and Bone. Needless to say, he didn’t waste time and continued to impress with a supporting role in the highly anticipated comedy Bad Teacher, which was released in October of that same year.
Since then, Robert Pattinson has gone on to appear in a variety of high-profile films. In 2016 alone, he starred in The Light Between Oceans, which was based on a true story, as well as The Lost Honour of Katharine Greene, The Legend of Los Angeles, and Midsommar. It seems like he’s been everywhere and done almost everything. From comedy to drama to action thrillers, Pattinson has proven himself to be one of the most versatile and talented actors of our time.
A New Beginning
While 2011 was a banner year for Robert Pattinson, it also marked the beginning of a new phase of his life. Following a messy break-up with long-time girlfriend Kate Winslet, he decided to cut all ties with the Hollywood and focus on his music career. He announced the end of his five-year relationship with Kate in September 2011 and began what was touted as a “transformation” into a “new man.” In an interview with The Daily Telegraph in April 2013, he said this about his future:
“My mind is completely made up. I am not looking back. This is a new beginning for me. Music is all I am interested in at the moment. I have never been happier. I am just so thrilled that this is actually happening.”
While it’s always fun to speculate about the inner workings of the actor’s mind, it’s clear that he made the right decision. The British actor has gone on to score several Grammy nominations for his music and released two albums that year, Rearrange and Lost in the Dream. In addition to his music career, he has also pursued a modelling career, doing several high-profile campaigns for luxury brands.
A New Hairstyle
When he isn’t acting or recording, Robert Pattinson is usually found hanging out with his pals. One of his favorite pastimes is changing his hairstyle, so it should come as no great surprise that he would try something new when he returns to the big screen. It seems like he has always had a thing for experimentation when it comes to his looks, so it is no wonder that he has taken the time to come back with a bang.
The first film in which he reprises the role of Edward Cullen is The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. The movie is the third in the series, following the chart-topping Twilight and the surprisingly under-rated New Moon. Set two years after the events of Twilight, Eclipse sees Bella Swan (played by Kristen Stewart) continue her education while deciding whether to end her fledgling relationship with vampire Jacob. Naturally, this leads to her questioning her identity as a human and craving more from her relationship with Edward. The new look that Edward Cullen sported in Eclipse is definitely one to watch. He ditches his usual scruff for a full face of makeup, which according to reports, he wears for the majority of the movie. While it is difficult to say for certain, the looks are said to be inspired by 1920s gangster Al Capone.
What do you think of Robert Pattinson’s new look? Is it something that you would wear?
