The actor is currently on the cover of many a magazine, promoting his new film, Water for Elephants. However, it would be a mistake to assume that he’s just coasting on the success of the Twilight series. No, Rob has a whole lot going on these days. He’s a busy actor, he’s a famous person, and he’s constantly traveling. Thus, it would be a bit of a shock if he didn’t make any major mistakes along the way.

1. He Is One Of The Most Humble Celebrities We’ve Ever Seen
If you’ve spent any time at all on the internet, you’d know that Rob is one of the most humble celebrities we’ve ever seen. The 27-year-old doesn’t seem to crave attention, and instead of having staff members help him deal with the influx of fan mail, he does it all himself. Here’s an excerpt from an interview Rob gave to the Daily Star in 2014, where he talks about his approach to fame:
“I wouldn’t say I’m particularly shy. But since I was a little kid, all I ever wanted to be was anonymous. I didn’t want anyone to know my name, or where I came from, or what I looked like. So for as long as I can remember, I’ve always tried to keep my head down and my mouth shut. I’ve never really sought attention. I’ve just wanted to be ordinary.”

Despite their differences (she’s a singer, he’s a musician; she’s a multi-instrumentalist, he’s a one-man-band), Rob insists that their relationship is all about him and her sharing the same creative energies.
“I’ve always been a very independent person,” he told Rolling Stone in 2014. “I’ve never really needed anyone to complete me. I’ve always felt like I can find my own way, so I’ve never been that bothered by uncertainty.”
Alicia helped Rob to realize his dream of being a musician, by supporting his decision to quit his job as a financial analyst and enroll in music college. And, as we established above, he’s been trying to keep his identity secret ever since. So, it would appear that Alicia’s determination has rubbed off on him. Even after all these years, Rob still doesn’t relish the idea of being in front of the camera.

“When I was growing up, my mum would always wear these amazing outfits, designed by my great-grandmother. And I remembered thinking how amazing it must be to have the talent to do that, and to be able to express yourself through fashion. So, as soon as I got the opportunity, I took it.”
Diane von Furstenberg’s creations have been seen on the red carpet many a times over the years, so it’s clear that Rob sees her as a creative source he can draw upon for his own fashion sense. And, from what we’ve seen so far, he’s done an amazing job. It would appear that Rob’s fashion sense is firmly rooted in his family heritage, as his great-grandmother was also a noted costume designer. And it’s very clear that Diane has helped Rob to unlock his creativity, as he’s designed outfits that have been praised for their originality and unique style. It would seem that Rob is determined to continue designing exclusive pieces for DVF Maison, as he already has several more projects in the pipeline.

He not only designs outfits that challenge traditional gender stereotypes, but also makes sure that he chooses the right people to help him bring his vision to life. Since graduating from Kingston College of Music with a Bachelor of Music in 2009, he’s taken on a lot of side projects, to help him develop his musical skills. And, as we established above, he doesn’t just want to be a musician, he also wants to be a fashion designer. Hence, his collaboration with DVF Maison.
Alongside his music studies, Rob began taking classical voice and violin lessons. But it was during his second year at university, that he began to feel creatively stifled. He wanted to express himself through art and design, and so he began studying fashion design. It was around this time that he met Alicia Keys, who was also studying fashion design at the time. And it would appear that they’ve worked together, creatively, ever since. This would explain why we’ve seen a lot of shared design projects, from clothes to furniture. It’s not just about their professional collaboration either, it’s also about their shared personal connection. They both adore their great-grandmother, and she was a well-known fashion designer, who designed the outfits seen on the red carpet many times over the years. It would appear that, since they met at university, they’ve both been craving an opportunity to develop their talents and combine their skills. Designing outfits for a high-profile fashion house is the perfect way to do that.
4. He Is One Of The Most Daring Celebrities We’ve Ever Seen
If there’s one thing that the Twilight series has taught us, it’s that Rob is one of the most daring celebrities we’ve ever seen. And this is coming from someone who’s seen every movie in the series. Believe it or not, Rob was a terrified little boy, who grew up in a household where his daredevil nature was constantly encouraged. His mother, Karen, used to take him on camping holidays, where they’d spend the nights in sleeping bags, under the stars. And it was this upbringing that gave Rob an identity crisis, at the age of 12. He didn’t know what type of man he wanted to be, so he asked his mother for help. And it was during one of these “father-son” camping trips, that Karen decided to be completely honest with her son. She told him that she didn’t exactly know what kind of man he was supposed to be, but that she knew he was a good man. From that day on, she began to push him to follow his heart, and to be himself. One of the things that has always defined Rob’s identity, is his extreme passion for animals. Thus, it was no wonder that he decided to give up a potentially lucrative career in finance, to pursue a life in music. He has a black labradoodle, named Lenny, who he affectionately calls his “heart dog.” And it was this passion for animals, that led him to create a platform, to help shelters and rescues around the world to find loving homes for their pets, by matching them with prospective owners. This is where his activism in the dog-loving community comes from. Thus, it would appear that, although Rob has always aspired to be a musician, it was his love for animals, that first inspired him to get involved in politics.
