It’s no secret that English actor and musician Robert Pattinson is one of the hottest names in Hollywood, but did you know that he had to overcome many challenges to reach this point? We take a look at some of the actor’s biggest moments—and how he looked during these special times.

Shooting ‘Sicario’

To start things off, let’s look back at one of the most exciting moments of Rob’s career—the day he filmed his leading role in Alejandro González Iñárritu’s blockbuster film, Sicario. The director had worked with Clint Eastwood on The Man With No Name and decided to give him a call to ask if he would be interested in directing the film. After a quick chat, Clint agreed and Sicario became the first English-language film to be shot entirely in Latin America. One of the more memorable scenes from the movie features Pattinson’s Benicio ‘Lado’ Madrigal talking to a captured drug lord about the futility of their rivalry. It definitely requires a keen eye to pick up on all the tiny details.

Walking Red Carpet

Speaking of picking up on details, in 2015, Rob was interviewed by Wonderland magazine and he opened up about his experiences on the red carpet. One of the actor’s biggest criticisms about being on the red carpet is that most of the time, you’re standing around doing nothing. Especially since you have to be somewhere by a certain time, there’s always a holding pattern. But that’s why he’s there, right? To make an impression and to have fun. He also stated that he doesn’t enjoy walking the red carpet because it requires him to keep moving. And that’s exhausting, especially since ‘there’s usually a lengthy lineup, which is tiring’. So it’s better to just stay at home and order room service.

Pattinson On ‘Cosmo’, The Inspiration For ‘Cosmo’

Now, here’s something pretty interesting. When asked by Vogue whether he would like to see the fashion world embrace more practical and functional pieces, especially when it comes to eyewear, he responded: ‘Yes, absolutely. As a guy, I always wear glasses. And when I was younger, I would wear contacts, but these days I’m very, very into nature. So I always try to keep my eye on the sun, on the sky, and on the trees—especially the trees. They are my constant inspiration. And this year, I feel that they have really influenced my look. There is definitely a ‘cosmo’ look. And I love it.’

Pattinson And Taggart On Set

Speaking of looking to the natural world for inspiration, there are plenty of pictures of Rob and his Game of Thrones co-star, Donald Sutherland, on set of the popular HBO series. They were both wearing all-white clothing and matching white beanie hats. And while Donald is the epitome of a silver-haired leading man, Rob appears to be channeling Leonardo Da Vinci through his clothing and his uniquely smooth hairline. The two even posed for a picture together, which was released during the summer of 2018.

Ava Gardner And Edward Bennett

Another interesting collaboration came about in 2018, when it was announced that Ava Gardner and Edward Bennett were joining forces to produce a film about the legendary Jazz Era, the ‘Jazz Age’. The film will be a mixture of history and Hollywood gossip, with the latter being presented in a documentary-like format. As the producers of the highly anticipated project, Ava and Ed shared: ‘We are thrilled to be collaborating with Clint on this project which draws on so much of his incredible talent and charisma.’ It’s clear that the former Lady Gaga muse and the Hollywood legend have a lot in common—both have been married five times and have been quoted as saying that fame is ‘a kind of death’. Now they’re combining their talents to bring another masterpiece to life.

Pattinson At Comic-Con

And of course, we can’t forget about Rob’s comic-con outfits. The actor is best known for his eccentric, yet polished cosplay outfits, which have become somewhat of a signature. So it was only a matter of time before he showed up at Comic-Con. And when he does, he always pulls off the scene. Whether he’s dressed as a Jedi (seen below), an alien (seen above), or a rat—he always looks effortless. It might even be best to call him the master of cosplay. But that’s a discussion for another day.

Pattinson In A Yacht Dress

Speaking of trying on different looks, last but not least, let’s not forget about Rob’s infamous yacht dress from the 2018 Golden Globes. As the host of the event, Stephen Colbert, stated in his monologue: ‘In his own elegant way, Mr. Pattinson showed up in a yacht dress.’ Of course, this isn’t the first time Rob has worn this dress. In fact, he wore the exact same design to the 2015 and 2017 Golden Globes. And while one can assume that the designer is still creating this dress to this day, it’s clear that Rob does not mind throwing on a colorful kimono and pearls to show off the unique print.

Whether it was playing a gangster or a drug lord in Sicario, an alien in X-Men: Phoenix Rising or a rat in the upcoming Joker, it’s clear that Rob has a passion for roles that require a great deal of costume work. As he has stated: ‘It’s important for me to feel like a million bucks. So when I do feel like a million bucks, I like to put on a good show and have some fun.’ And it seems like he has, having never looked more dashing. What is your favorite Robert Pattinson look?
